MunkyBoy Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 so they are crap? they dont make you punch harder? it'd be better to just hold a tennisball in your hand and press it?
Thuggish Posted December 25, 2003 Posted December 25, 2003 no no, you people.... that is for grip (finger) and forarm strength. ideal for rockclimbers, and anyone who wants strong forarms- which should be everyone. they have nothing to do with punching. however, when you fight a kickboxer and want to block a head kick or something, you want strong, hard muscled forarms. those things are good for that, and are much better than some tennis ball. by the way, what the hell is 'inhowfar' supposed to mean? a broken arm throws no punches
telsun Posted December 26, 2003 Posted December 26, 2003 check out ironmind.com Absolutely!!! The king of hand grippers. A strong grip is definately an advantage to M/A'ist's. Not so much for punching as for.....erm.......gripping I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
monkeygirl Posted December 26, 2003 Posted December 26, 2003 I would think that a strong grip would be especially useful for grapplers and the like. 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.
Rich_2k3 Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Try the eagle catcher, instead of two handles its attached to every finger with using bands which are then attached to a metal frame around the hand, your crunch your knuckles pulling the elastic inwards, pretty good. Rich_2k3 Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 Strong forearms are essential for a good block. "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee
OrenJuMok Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 What about fingertip pushups? I find that doing fingertip pushups really helps my hand/finger strength.
