karatekid1975 Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 I thought Shotokan had full contact? G95 can clear that up. Anyways, if you want full contact, go for Muay Thai if there is a school that teaches it around your area. Some TKD schools are full contact (mine included), but most aren't. BJJ from what I understand/read is full contact grappling. Kickboxing is, also. I'd pick a hybrid style just because some hybrid styles mix in several different things (like my school teaches grappling with TKD and Kali). You would get more of a "well rounded" MA in one place Laurie F
aefibird Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Shotokan does have full contact; I have the 'battle scars' to prove it! "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
Nick_14 Posted December 8, 2003 Author Posted December 8, 2003 It could be because we are from differnent places aefbird, because there was no contact at all in my shotokan class,or in Nova Scotia from what i know of
italian_guy Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 If you like a striking art Kickboxing will do. Of course it has full contact sparring...
MantisWarrior Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 i would say if you can go with tai chi and kickboxing. tai chi is a good martial art to mix with another art. Fighting out of hate brings only disgrace.
