Shorinryu Sensei Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 Black and White Poem" (Under age 40? You might not understand) You could hardly see for all the snow, Spread the rabbit ears as far as they go; Pull a chair up to the TV set, "Good Night, David. Good Night, Chet." Depending on the channel you tuned, You got Rob and Laura - or Ward and June; It felt so good. It felt so right, Life looked better in black and white. I Love Lucy, The Real McCoys, Dennis the Menace, the Cleaver boys; Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Superman, Jimmy and Lois Lane. Father Knows Best, Patty Duke, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie too; Donna Reed on Thursday night! -- Life looked better in black and white. I wanna go back to black and white, Everything always turned out right; Simple people, simple lives... Good guys always won the fights. Now nothing is the way it seems, In living color on the TV screen; Too many murders, too many fights, I wanna go back to black and white. In God they trusted; alone in bed they slept, A promise made was a promise kept; They never cussed or broke their vows, They'd never make the network now. But if I could, I'd rather be, In a TV town in '53; It felt so good. It felt so right, Life looked better in black and white. I'd trade all the channels on the satellite, If I could just turn back the clock tonight; To when everybody knew wrong from right, Life was better in black and white! My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
SaiFightsMS Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 I bet most of the people here have no idea what a uhf converter is either.
monkeygirl Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Cute poem UHF converter...isn't that some kind of amplifier for TV signals, back when they were really weak and far away? I'm gonna guess that UHF stands for Ultra-High Frequency, but I really have no clue. 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.

SaiFightsMS Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Monkeygirl tv's used to have dials that changed the station. And the dials only went from 2 to 12. As stations became more numerous the dials could not handle the increased number of stations. So you got a little box that sat on top of your tv. When you wanted to watch channel 16 you set the dial on the tv to uhf then turned the dial on the converter box to 16. Oh, and you had to get up and walk across the room to do this.
shotokanwarrior Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 ultra high frequency.. Where Art ends, nature begins.
Martial_Artist Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 WHAT THE CAPITAL F!!!!! They don't use UHF converters anymore? When did this happen??? Whipper-snappers!!!!! kchenault Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 I enjoyed it very much and I am only 33. I remember turning the dial on our TV as a kid, then, about the time I turned 8 or 9, we got cable. The remote for cable had a wire connecting it to the box. The wire was about 10 ft long. Wow, I feel old. Ken ChenaultTFT - It does a body good!
