Depends whose doing the takedowns.

 

Double-leg, single-leg would be up there for wrestlers.

 

Basic Hip throw, o-soto-gari for Judoka and ju-jitsu guys.

BJJ - Black Belt under John Will (Machado)

Shootfighting - 3rd Degree Black Belt

TKD - Black Belt

sprawing is a good takedown, but i think it is dangerous on the streets. You should look in to Judo. Judo has some really good take downs.

Sprawling is not a takedown at all. Sprawling is what youd o when someone shoots in for a takedown on you..you sprawl you legs back and drop down on top of them. It's proabably the best single takedown defense you can learn for the street or otherwise.

Why is it that you really see lateral movement being used for avoidance when they work so fricken well? I do agree though being able to sprawl is absolutely necessary.

Lateral movement isn't quick enough to stop a shoot from arms-length, that's why it's not used against takedowns. I'm sure if worked better than sprawling that it would be used by wrestlers in competition.
