Icetuete Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 does this make sense or does it just develope bad habits and/or injuries my joints?
Tibby Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Don't fully extend your arms, go as fast as you can, or let the cencifical force move your arm. and always arm high, not low.
Martial_Artist Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Good advice. Try hitting a heavy bag too while holding the weights. It's good to help initial development of muscles, but after a while it gets redundant and you need to be training with a closed fist to develop proper hand form when hitting a solid target. It's better to hold a heavy weight such as that and go through your movements slowly, making sure your form is perfect and repeating said movements until your arms feel like falling off. You can do the same with kicks using ankle weights. Remember it's better to go slower with perfect form than faster with poor form when learning technique. Speed can be developed and will come when proper form has been ingrained into your soul. Icetuete Posted November 8, 2003 Author Posted November 8, 2003 does it make me punch stronger? i do exactly the same punching excersises we do in the dojang, except holding the weights in hands.
Tibby Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Yes, it will. Atleast ,that is what Franco Colombo says. I'm incline to believe a Championship Boxer, Championship powerlifter, Championship Body Builder, and Worlds Strongest man ;D lol Martial_Artist- I've always had trouble with the bar of the weight hurting my hand when I hit a bag. Weighed gloves work nicely.
Icetuete Posted November 9, 2003 Author Posted November 9, 2003 Yes, it will. excellent thanks, i will keep it on then!
aznkarateboi Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 sorry but holding weights doesn't really provide the resistance for driving your hands forward
aznkarateboi Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 it will make your deltoids stronger though
Icetuete Posted November 9, 2003 Author Posted November 9, 2003 is there anything i gotta keep in mind except donig the same movements like when punching without weights...?
