My boyfriend's school has a contract where it can be broken for medical reasons (or moving). This one girl hurt her knee twice, and she couldn't take TKD anymore, and had to quit. I think she got a doctors note or something, and got out of the contract.

Why do you have contracts? That sounds a bit mcdojoish.

I dont have contracts...they do. This was the only place in town I could afford. You might be able to afford more, I can't, so I take what I can get on my weak paycheck. It is a little mcdojo, and a little real. i saw signs of both.

:o Just a bit? I wouldn't sign a contract. That's more about martial arts as a business than anything else. While in the modern world this must be an aspect, contracts are not the smartest way to keep students in your dojo. Great training and respect are the way to go IMHO. Just wondering, do these contracts give you the option to pull out if you are dissatisfied with the training methods, or if the style doesn't prove to be effective outside of the dojo or tournament ring???
