Irish Stick Fighting

Featured Replies

I emailed Sifu Doyle asking about Irish stick and he said they are going to release a DVD set. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

The final edits should take about another 30 days... I'll make an official announcement before the holidays.

A quote from Glen Doyle.

Oooh, what a cool Christmas present. I'm an Irishman and a woefully inadequate stick fighter; it's perfect.

I finally got to do some Irish bata, single stick. It was very interesting. The shillegah is a very easy weapon to swing, but the blocks take a lot of work on timing. We did 6 strike drills for about 1 hour with and without partners, and then 10 strike drills solo. I was suprised by how light the shillegah are, but how dense and durable the wood is. Cool weapon. :D
Very interesting indeed. Very cool!

That looks really interesting. The good thing about it, is that the stick punch conditions your forearms :) Beat your opponent and condition yourself in one step!
