Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. i just saw that on the news. but according to them most of the oil is still in containers. its just a matter of time until it leaks out.
  2. my weakness is not eating ENOUGH im a bean pole
  3. i think Hapkido does just about everything. i'll probably start taking it if i cant find an Aikido school
  4. well, i haven't really been looking for a certain style. im just trying to find a school around where i live and i cant seem to find one
  5. my curiousity with Aikido has gotten the best of me. im not much into the spiritual stuff but i love the art. im the type of guy that loves to fight (but never starts them ) i think my main fascination with Aikido is just throwing people around. i love the fact that with little effort i could defend myself against a big muscle head (hopefully ) anyways, my point is that im gonna start looking for an Aikido school.
  6. this is a little hard for me to word correctly so i'll try to describe the situation the best i can. i kickbox and grapple. i just recently quit both. i still practice and spar alot though. with the knowledge i already have, im working on being a self taught shootfighter. im planning on adding my own special touch to it to basicly make it my own kinda style (it wont really be a style, just what works for me and whatever else i add to it.) so what is the correct name for shootfighting? i've heard people call it Vale Tudo and other things. i'd seem a little silly if someone asks what my style is based from and i told them i didn't know the name of it.
  7. the only weapon i know about is the sword and thats only because i've been working with one for a couple of years. so i guess i'd recommend the kama only because its sharp (if my memory is correct)
  8. i do alot of bag work. i've also just started a calesthenics routine that's giving me a better work out than weight lifting.
  9. so your problem is moving your leg back to get more force? maybe i can help. instead, lift your leg with your knee bent then strike. im kinda tired at the moment so if i didn't give you a good enough answer just tell me and i'll try to do better.
  10. my two front teeth actually i wouldn't mind getting a good weight set.
  11. i cant seem to get the video to work. "Aikido strike" sounds funny. when i think of Aikido i think of throws and joint locks. i wish i could get the video to work.
  12. i wear contacts. i also compete full contact without taking them out. i've never had a problem with it yet. i've even gotten black eyes without them popping out or even moving. maybe i'm just lucky. Sid
  13. i dont know if this has been discussed recently because i cant find anything like it. from what i've heard, aikido takes awhile to be able to use it for self defense. but im only 16 so i figure i have plenty of time to learn it before i'm old before i go into my questions i think i should say that i know everyone is different and learn at different paces so i just want an estimate please. how long until aikido is a very effective method of self-defense? i've heard that masters are basicly "untouchable" to most people, could that be true? thanks.
