  1. Hi all. I recently started training in Kimura Shukokai (its a variation on Shito Ryu). My wife and i just found out there is a possibilty we may have to move back to Arkansas where I lived before. Was wondering if anyone knew of any good schools in the area. Any style of karate, but Shito Ryu preferably. It is still up in the air as to whether we will have to or not. Just getting ideas on what I am looking at. Thanks in advance.
  2. i started at 29. don't worry about how old you are just go for it. its a blast and great stress relief besides.
  3. Now training in Kimura Shukokai Karate for about 2 weeks now
  4. $130 for classes isn't bad depending on what your getting. In southern california it ranges anywhere between 80 to 300 a month depending on where you go and how many classes you take, whether you take private lessons or not. i was paying $165 a month at my old school for 4 group classes a week and a half hour private lesson.
  5. my worst injury i am still recovering from. injured my back in nov working on throws and still out of commission. still not sure exactly what is even wrong. ive seen a chiropractor, personal dr, and physical therapy with little to no improvement so far
  6. yeah we do more kicking, so we just have shin/foot guards, gloves, a helmet and a mouthpeice. theyre all made of the squishy, shiny material whose name im not familiar with. if its the same stuff my gear is made from its probably vinyl colored foam
  7. nope never used one before. im the type thought that when i spar id rather just use gloves and nothing else.
  8. it's one of those questions that cant be answered. lmao. i remember when i got my first real bruise. was a shin bruise from a leg block. had a knot on my shin the size of an apple besides a bruise the size of a plate. my wife freaked out and i was showin it off like i just won a gold medal. lol.
  9. no it doesn't sound like it to me, BUT the term "mcdojo" in my opinion is thrown around way too often now days from people who are jealous. everyone has a different opinion of what a mcdojo is. it may mean something totally different to someone else then it does to me. go with how you feel in you rheart. not with what other opinion is.
