  1. duck....
  2. he doesn't hold regular classes for combat hapkido, read my above post. His students never got into it but i love it so he teaches me privately.
  3. the thing is, my teacher holds classes for tkd only, he teaches me combat hapkido, but he doesn't have his own combat hapkido school. I take private lessons. bummer huh? no other school mates I'll talk to him about it though, maybe there's somone he knows at his tkd school that does alot of self defense stuff as well. Or i could just beat the piss outta my parents
  4. sometimes MA techniques are not enough even when there are no weapons brought into play. MAists, or anyone for that matter, may have to rely on weapons at one point in your life (hopefully not though). If a knife is pullled on you, give them your stuff, if a gun is pulled on you, give them your stuff. Always give your things away unless they ask for your life, or your families life. Then you may need to draw your weapons to protect yourself and your family. I feel that you should only use your knife if someone, or maybe 6 people are hell bent on killing you. Then you must kill them before they kill you, unfortunately you will probably go to jail for saving your own life. fucked up huh? However, back to the gun issue, if someone pulls a gun, and wants to kill you, your dead, unless it's pointed right at your chest, point blank range, then you have a chance to disarm the guy. You'd have to if he was gonna try and kill you, i mean your dead anyway if you don't do squat. If your talking about pulling a jackie chan and using your environment as weapons, sure go ahead, pick up that pipe and beat them with it
  5. i'm having trouble forming a practice session that focusses on all techniques tha ti have learned so far. Since i'm doing combat hapkido, i find it hard to do without a partner, an dhave made some dummies to compensate, but i'm still having trouble comming up witha program for myself, any thoughts? oh and i will talk to my instructor about this on Saturday.
  6. iny, is that per month?!?!?!
  7. the prob with tkd, or any other art, is there are too many mcdojos, find an instructor that has done some extensive boxing as well if you can, if he know's boxing, self defense, and TKD, hopefully he will be a good teacher. I'm taking private lessons with my instructor who has done tkd, boxing, aikido and combat hapkido, he teaches me the hapkido and aikido techniques cause i have always wanted to learn those styles, and make them my main focus
  8. sounds like the i'magonna style I'm a gonna hit you with this I'm a gonna stab you with that I'm a gonna slice you with this sounds interesting though
  9. practice combos, but don't practice "set" ones, make up new ones while your punching. make them up off the top of your head EVERY time you work out, if you create "set" combos for yourself, they may not work in a real life situation
  10. well if your talking about teh big arching type hook (aka John Wayne style) the best defense that works for me is to block the punch, hit the guy in the head, then follow up by dislocating the shoulder (you must put a lock on the arm for this) and at the same time as you lock out his arm, sweep his feet. you can then kick him in the head when he's on the ground if you like. Remember when you block, move to the side a little so you don't take the punch at full force, at teh same time as you block, you strike.
