heeey... cool down there, buddy of course, i'm flattered that you're inviting me on your new forum - i'm sure you're a great administrator! i didn't mean to offend you with my comment, and it HAS proven constructive: you've started paying more attention to your spelling, and your messages are easier to read. congratulations! and btw, if you start boiling when someone makes an innocent observation like that, then perhaps you need to learn more about the philosophy of life that most martial arts promote. chill, dude, chill. you don't want to get your ass kicked cuz you lost your head when the enemy picked on your grammar. and take things with good humor, eh? Elektra P.S. thanks SubmissionFighter for sticking up for me!

That's right LeaF. Good job Ram. In fact, this holds for sober people as well. If you can get out of there and avoid a fight, do it. After all, why make a concession for drunks but not for the regular idiot that's just dim by nature? If he thinks you're a coward, let him. It's not his validation you need.

I would say you shouldn't try to get rid of the rage - just learn to stay on top of it. If you feel rage, and it's not empty, and you're honestly ready inside to crack his skull open and eat his brains (which you SHOULDN'T do, by the way ), well, that determination is probably going to come across and create an impression on the other guy - he might just leave you alone, or become too scared to fight at his real potential. You'd be surprised how few people pick on you when they think you're crazy. Now the problem is looking / being crazy but not foolish. You need that edge of rage and fearlessness in a fight, but make sure it's under your control. Many people fake it, and that's just sad. If in your case it takes you over, then what you should do is not fear it, but try to embrace it. So when you fight you're overcome by rage. Rationalize it. You want to kill your opponent. That's great - it gives you an advantage. Think about how you can do it, make things work. The rage should give you the motivation - don't allow it to interfere with the practical application. I'm guessing what you're complaining about is that you become reckless and start making mistakes. Use the rage to your advantage: the longer you stay on your feet, the more damage you can do - so don't get careless. You're strong enough to not have to rush it. Most importantly, you're mad enough to not have to rush it. Connect with your rage, make it deeper, take it below the surface. Control and adapt your rage. Use it. But don't supress it. Always work with what you've got. Yeah, you need a cool head during a fight, but you need a spark of insanity as well. You have to acknowledge the importance of both, and then try to find a balance point in between. that's what i think, in any case.

taking out their legs - definitely! repeated roundhouse kicks about 1/3 or 2/5 up from the knee on the outside of the thigh: it'll wear the leg out and he'll soon collapse or front stomp kick on top of the knee as he's stepping in - this one's nasty, it'll mess up his knee for good i don't know about groin kicks/knees... from what i've seen, it often takes a good few seconds for the pain to really sink in - they can destroy you in the meantime, since all they need to do is get a good punch in eye-gouging is a much better "dirty trick" i think and jesus don't go for the teeth! it'll make them ugly but it sure won't stop them. might hurt you though i heard Gerard Gordeau was actually left with a tooth in his foot from that sumo guy in UFC 1, and fought with it stuck in there for the rest of the tournament - they just put some bandages over it anyway, if you're gonna hit something other than the legs, i'd go for the jawline or temple (reach?). Upper lip just below the nose is harder to get.

Isn't choking them out dangerous as well? After all, ! But then, they're less likely to sue you for slight brain damage than for a broken knee. I don't know - I was just wondering how safe it is. After a few chokes, my head starts hurting, and that's when I tap before passing out. Will you know for sure when to let go so they'll wake up? After all, their responses are different. Won't a choke interfere with their already fucked up state and have them croke as they're choking on vomit or god knows what? I haven't seen many people pass out from chokes - especially drunk - so i'm just wondering what you guys think. Has anyone actually ever done this?

Kurosawa is awesome! Hope you liked Rashomon. You guys should all see it. Brilliant movie. And yes, you'll love Yojimbo and it's sequel - Sanjuro. I also recommend Ran, which has the best photographed battle scene I've ever seen, and is a splendid movie all throughout. There's also The Hidden Fortress - which was a major inspiration source for Star Wars. Other great movies of his that I've seen are Ikiru and Red Beard (no fights though, be advised well, almost no fights) I hear good things about Kagemusha and Dersu Uzala, but haven't had a chance to see them. In truth, I'd watch any Kurosawa movies I can get my hands on, if I were you. They've started stocking some of them at video stores, since new DVD's have been coming out on Criterion Collection. Just look around through foreign movies section. And they're (almost) all on amazon.com Oh, guys: if you're not sure what a movie is about, or a remake of, or whatnot, just look on imdb.com -
same thing happened to me, and seems to have gone away good advice from everybody but above all - be careful if it gets painful: a friend had to quit karate because they eventually figured out there was something wrong with her hip joint so now she can feel atmospheric pressure changes and everything

interesting you all sound so disgusted, but i don't think i ever saw a guy look the other way from a pair of obviously fake boobs now, whether i'd be willing to go through surgery so a passerby can drool over my cleavage, that's a different problem... on the same topic however, many people get surgery simply because it helps them in their careers/ social life i would estimate at least half the strippers in LA have had boob jobs and it's a bigger tits/ bigger tips equation also, i think you're being a bit too rough on people that do have liposuctions, butt implants and whatnot yes, many of those problems could be addressed with exercise and better diet, but there's also the psychological aspect to it it can be hard and disheartening for some to try to stick to eating right or doing serious physical effort people are weak and vulnerable, and sometimes surgery does help them feel better about themselves things aren't quite as black and white as most of you present them but yes, i would sooner send a friend to the gym, or to a therapist if need be, than to the operating table

What's more, it's the best kata to practice on top of a mountain!
