  4. Quote: "As for nhb being the closest thing to a real fight? Ill simulate a real fight for you, ill creap up behind you and shoot you in the back of the head for 20 feetback/or my personal favorite hit you on the back of the head with a bear bottle after you insult my trolling....." ZakariRu you are a VERY confused person, if you get shoot in the head it's murder not fighting or self-defense, and if you were to get hit in the head with a beer bottle (trust me, I know the SOAR feeling) the fight will not end their, you turn around drop the guy and it's all "ground and pound" after that. NHB or MMA is REAL FIGHTING in the sense of hand-to-hand combat. I bet if you ZakariRu had a choice to fight a guy with a beer bottle in his hand or an empty handed NHB fighter you would chose the guy with a beer bottle in his hand (right!) Why would you chose the beer bottle guy... simple because, you know the NHB fighter knows how to fight, he can take a punch or kick and smile right back at you, also if he or she feels you are stronger then them on your feet then they will take you down to break a body part (not summit you because submission is only for sport not real life) or "ground and pound" on your face. I myself am a NHB fighter in Ontario, Canada and I know what I'm talking about since I train and support the sport (NHB). Prolong grappling is not practical? WHAT? HELLO? Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Marco Ruas, Don Frye, Mario Sperry, Rodrigo Nogueira, Kazushi Sakuraba tell these guys grappling is not practical and they'll get you in a arm bar faster then you can blink! If it's not practical then PLZ enter a NHB competition because it's is VERY obvious you have NEVER entered one. How is it not practical in self-defense? WHAT?Cause the way I see it is if your wife or girlfriend is being raped, how will she defend herself without knowing grappling? How will she get the guy off of her? How will she throw or take the guy down when she gets grabbed by him? Also what will you do If a guy gabs you in a bar and is ready to pound you, if you don't know how to throw the guy or to drop him to the ground your gonna get messed up. What if you get on the ground and his pounding away at you, then What? http://www.nhbcanada.ca/Photo%20Files/NHBshadow.JPG ________________ Tapout or pass out, it dosen't matter to me! 5. Hi Everybody... This is a very nice Martial Art forum you guy's got here, I'm impressed! I live in Ontario, Canada but was born back home in Poland. I've been into MA for 12 years and 3 years in MMA (mixed martial arts). I eat, sleep, train Sambo, but I also have training experience in Mauy Thai and Kung Fu. Check out the fighters club I train at to get a better idea of Sambo or MMA. I hope to chat it up with you all! http://www.elitekombat.net
  6. ZakariRu... PLZ explain how grappling is useless? Cause I have been training in Sambo for years and would like to know how useless it is?

  8. My story starts 5 years ago at a Karate dojo down the street from me. I have never trained in Karate and was excited for my first class. Now, before class started I was talking to a black belt (which I found out later was the instructor of my class) about the school and his training in the martial arts. He told me his been training in Karate for 15 years, with a 4th degree black belt. He asked me if I have past martial art experience, I told him "yes" I have trained Muay Thai for 7 years but my real passion is Sambo which I have been training in for 5 years and still do. Then the black belt stood up and asked for the next class to prepare for training, and then I realized I was talking to the instructor. He explained to us that today we will be sparring and everyone of us will get a chance to spar him. When we finished stretching we put our gear on and began sparring, my first partner was a orange belt with very limited sparring experience and so we took it easy (mind you that, I've sparred countless hours in Muay Thai and Sambo, so I have lots of experience in sparring) After sparring others in the class, it was my turn to spar the instructor. He explained to me to keep my hands up at all times, keep moving, and also no contact punches or kicks to the face or head. I respected and understood the rules so we began sparring. I first caught him off guard will low cut kicks to the thigh which made him stumble and nearly fall, but then he told me all kicks must be above the waist, "ok no problem" I said so we continued. Then I caught him with a right cross to the stomach and a left hook to the ribs, he backed off and I gave him a sec to catch his breath. After that it got bad! REAL BAD! We started sparring again and he punched me right in mouth, he totally caught me off guard since contact to the head was not allowed but I said nothing. We continued and he punched me in the face again but this time with a back hand strike (ouch) I told him "I thought head contact was not allowed?", he apologiased and so we continued but then he hit me with a spinning back kick right to my head which almost knocked me out but I managed to stay on my feet. I asked if "I could catch my breath" but to my amazement he said "no, put your hand up and lets continue" I was shocked, this man is supposed to be an instructor, a person who is looked up to by others in Karate and this is his attitude to new students who just want to learn Karate? I was sick to my stomack I couldn't believe it, so I put my hands up and started sparring, I waited for a kick to my ribs, when I got it I caught his leg with my left arm, grabbed his Gi with my right arm placed my right leg behind his standing leg and drove him into the ground so hard he let out a loud gasp of air and struggled to breath for a few seconds. All the other students stopped and looked at us to see what happened. I took of my gear and left in the middle of class to never return again. Why are their instrutors like this? How do they get high ranks with such a poor attitude? If you have a dojo horror story PLZ share it!
  9. KNEE BAR, KNEE BAR, KNEE BAR, KNEE BAR, KNEE BAR.... wait... whats the question again?
  10. Well... since I eat, sleep and train Sambo I'll give you an idea of the sport. Sambo or (Cambo) is Russian for "self-defence without weapons" It's was developed in the 1930's by the former USSR for military use. In the 60's and 70's it became sport and trained nation wide. Sambo is a combination of Greco-Roman Wrestling and Judo that HEAVILY trains in submissions, throws, takedowns and grappling. It's best known for leg locks and an aggresive style of grappling which may deter newcomers to this combat sport.
