Orange Belt (3/10)

  1. theres nothing better than the snap of a front kick w/ a heavyweight gi.... ahhh.... beautiful music.
  2. I think i'd have given him a warning and then sat him down and let him watch silently. After you finish a few forms go over to him and have a quiet conversation with him and ask him if he can manage to finish the class and raise his hand before speaking. if not leave him there and talk to his parent. depending on how old he is. if hes above like year 6 then just threaten to kick him out.
  3. I dunno... i tend to make up lesson plans off the top of my head based on my training and what i've never seen being done that needs to be worked on. except with the cubs... with them there has to be a plan. written. lol
  4. we tend to use old 80s pop or techno stuff. we have our swat team make mix cds that have good solid beats. for a (very short) period of time we used disco. im gonna bring in some russian techno soon. =)
  5. my sensei/shihan runs the school with his wife. I am one of four senseis on his staff. 3 of which are girls. =)
  6. shuttle runs, which i had to do for phys ed. the worst part is you go get the shuttle, bring it to the starting point, then go back for the other one. i was like... what the hell? and i picked up both and ran w/ them. that was easy...
  7. woot! 5'3' 136. grew some lost some right after i was like 5'1" and 165. pretty athletic. could be in better shape but im working on it.
  8. yes, but love don't believe in me.... =(
  9. i put peanut butter on everything.any one else do that? i mean everything. meat, ice cream (on the rare occasions i have ice cream), tuna... everything
  10. That's a great site. but are u sure it's free, or is it just free for a certain amount of time b4 they charge you?
  11. not bad for anyone. but i gotta go stretch now.... lol.
  12. Out of my skateboarding 'career' I learned the ability to land safely on the floor (due to falling off a lot practcing tricks)... a skill usefull in my later attempts at Aikido, where you attempt to blend with your opponents energy and your opponent attempts to blend you with the floor. I'd say skateboarding is also good for improving balance. I'd say that, but I'm not actually sure seen as it never seemed to improve my balance one jot! lol that is true. i wasn't trying to offend any fellow skateboarders, in any way. That's just a lot of what it did for me. I think dance may have done more for me, because i've done it for so long, but i've been involved in sports since age 4. Which is pretty good for being the first girl in my family, and the first alltogether. set a standard for injuries for the boys, i'll tell you that. "A nessuno piace d'essere ingannato"- Me
  13. Well, i have two for swimming, =). I'm going to see if i can weedle (is that a word?) my way onto the swim team before the end of the term, because that high school has an indoor pool, but if not... well, i guess i'll be running a marathon. your suggestions have given me something to think about and work on putting together. Thank you, Dee =)
  14. Well, obviously the number. =) But moreso endurance and speed, which i am lacking of in both categories. strength as well. i used to be pretty strong, and then i had a series of injuries that put me out of MA for around 5 months, and off my feet for slightly longer. Most of the muscle i had in my legs deteriorated, and the temporary strength in my arms from crutches is gone, so i'm left not much. =/ that i'd like to improve.
  15. I did Seven Years of Dance and some skateboarding. Out of dance, i got flexability, which is where my high kicks and splits come from, and good posture and attention to form. well, good posture in dance. I slouch terribly now. Out of skateboarding... the ability to take a hit? =)
