  1. actually, Its not very useful, but my best kick is a jumping spinning cresent.
  2. The judges shouldn't really care, as long as it isn't a sea kea hyung "white belt form". I like bassi my self.
  3. Did yall see what happened to Martin at the craftsmen truck race? That was some bull!
  4. well TSD and TKD have the same roots so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't?
  5. One thing I would like to point out is that open handed punches would be more likly to break fingers.
  6. I have the same problem with my kicks, my cousin suggest a strech to help with that. You have to go as low as you can in a F/B splits and bend your front leg, which will let you go down further.
  7. In my studies it started in the Tang' dynesty of China. TSD and TKD both started at this time the only difference is TKD started as a sport and TSD started as the MA behide that sport.
  8. Because you'll get to focused on getting the person in a grappel you'll lose focus on the fight, but if you can hanndle it go ahead.
  9. It depends on the people sparring, usually I hit like I was in a real fight, unless I sparring someone of an inopropreat age. Also you can use grappling if your good enough, I wouldn't recommend it.
  10. Who is the Grandmaster of the WTSDA? It isn't Chun Sik Kim, is it? I don't think that sounds right. Jae Chul Shin
  11. Tang Soo Do is very effective, you just have to give it all you got.
  12. first things first, balence is the ecential element in kicking.
  13. It won't let me take the poll but i take tang soo do.
  14. MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!! I watched it with my dad all the time. Its what inspired me to take MA.Also Ong-Bak is freakin awsome!!!!
  15. There are two things I see that are missing, breaking and roleing, they are not used very often but they are their. Also their are two types of sparring, freestyle and tornament, in freestyle anything goes in tornament sparring the rules the guy said erlier go into affect. One more thing we do hand and kicking techniqes, that's where we a barage of punchs, blocks, and kicks.
  16. At my first, and only so far, I got third in forms and first in sparring, Ill i can tell you is give it all because nothing is impossable, I beat a member 4 gups higher than me to achieve gold in sparring.
  17. Is UTSD anything like WTSDA?
  18. yeah, Im 6th gup and I know pyang ann sam dan and bong heygh el bu
  19. thanks man, I have a lower belt than I should at this time due to bad timing to inter (I been in it for a year and Im only a 6th gup) so I have a tendency to learn higher forms than I should, do you think I should stop.
  20. thanks if I have a question I'll ask.
  21. It was always light contact to the body, no punches to the face and no low kicks. I think that gets in the way because it leaves to much out. I know what you mean, but the students of my class have talked about it and we put a hundred percent into every round. We use what ever is usful in a real fight. P.S. I love tang soo do and i can tell you its not just a bunch of flashy crap.
  22. I wanted to make this post for anyone who takes, or have taken, TSD and would like to talk about it.
  23. I agree that it all depends on the teacher, I attened East Mississippi Tang Soo Do and at the region 6 championship (which includes Mississippi, Alabama, Tennesse, and Louisiana) everyone in my class placed , including me, I got gold:)
