where i am from 9 out of 10 people own and shoot guns on a regular basis either for hunting, competition, of just fun. guns are a part of everyday life in a small town. i own five myself. teaching defense against guns is a must. although crime rate is very low here the gun rate is alot.
i do know some of these moves. i train with the best of the best including cops, marine recon, army rangers etc. this is in their ciriculum. i would do anything to protect myself, my fiance, family, friends, land, and country.
everyone should know their lower ranked kata. we had to do everyone before recieving a blackbelt. i am now a sandan (3rd degree) and still know all kata i have learned.
I do Shotokan also. Ours is mainly geared toward self-defense. My instructor is a cop and so are alot of people there at the dojo. We also have various military personel there also. it all depends on how the instructor gears the classes.
KarateEd: I have also trained in a church. we used to teach a class in a church in Jackson,Tn to get more people into the church itself. We are associated with the Christian Martial Arts Association.
In sparring i kick above the belt as required, in a street fight i am only going to kick below the belt. As far as kicking being cheap, who cares. If I'm in a fight I want to win. i train to use both hands and feet therefore i will and I will do anything to win a fight.
I would have beat the living crap out of them. i don't have any sisters but i do have a cousin who is as close to me as a sister and she knows i would fight for her. i do have a little brother, he's small but he is mean as he!!. the boyfriend must be pretty sorry if he can't fight for his girlfriend. my fiance knows i would fight for her because i have already proved it.
i do. it is very effective. the throws and other techniques work in about any real world situations. i would highly suggest it if someone is interested in studying it.
