these are all great tips. but make sure that you dont cut sodium out of your diet all together. sodium is a must have for vital muscle and nerve functions to work. Without sodium, your body will run low on electrolytes which will cause you to have twitch and muscle convulsions

Im taking a human anatomy and physiology class so i can tell about lactic acid and how to get rid of it. First off, lactic acid is not a myth. It is "pyruvic acid generated during glycolysis" that then converts to lactic acid. This happens because your body runs out of ATP, oxygen, and glucose energy. The only way to prevent lactic acid build up is to constantly work out. although lactic acid will still be present, it will be in less quantities. To get rid of lactic acid after a workout, Make sure to stretch while breathing deeply. Oxygen must enter the worn out muscles and the only way for this to happen quickly is to stretch. On the other hand, protein shakes or anything with protein will help the muscles build up better; therefore causing the time lactic acid is present to lessen. hope that helps.

Thanks guys. For my first tournament i did alright. in point sparring we both threw a front kick at the same time. his legs were longer, needless to say i ended up on my butt. I also grappled and won that. In continuous fighting, i had to fight a black belt in taekwondo right after grappling. i was worn out but i did alright in that.

Hey guys. im entering my first tournament two weeks from now. im new to the sport of karate and point sparring. Do you have any training and preparing tips or techniques that are effective in tournaments? thanks

how often should you be taught new curriculum and how long should you practice it until you learn something new. For example: would you teach 6 forms in 1 month and 6 forms another month? or do you have a guideline that you use to teach by at your dojo that works for you and the other students? im just helping my friend learn jujitsu and this being my first time teaching someone else, i dont know how i should go about teaching the moves. ( and yes she does have experience in ma)

one thing i read in the book "Zen in the Martial Arts", is that emptying your cup could aslo be applied to learning new styles of martial arts. When training in a new style, alot of people want to compare it to another style or ignore one way of doing a technique for another. When you empty your cup, you should take in all aspects of what your doing. just try and be open minded to whats going on and what your trying to learn

my grandpa trained in several styles of martial arts and created his own style- hon-shin-do, he is a 9th dan. My dad trained in hon-shin-do and only got his brown belt. my uncle trained in the same art and i believe is a black belt. and i trained in several styles including hon-shin-do. So we even have a family art. -
i work at a vet as a kennel worker. i have to deal with aggressive dogs all the time. We have ways of calming down dogs. sometimes if that doesnt work, we must, of course, defend ourselves. some of my coworkers say that if a dog attacks them they will hit back. I personally use kung fu( like sticky hands) to control the head and just like sticky hands put them on their sides. When in a fight with a dog, controlling the head is the most important part of not getting hurt. also some restraining moves used on humans are quite effective on dogs

i usually train in my 2 car garage. i have a small bag hanging from the ceiling that i use to toughen myself up. there is enough room for me to do certain forms. i go outside to practice weapons, mostly bo, and if one of my friends comes over to spar, we go outside and use the grass as our mats

thanks, i figured i would just do karate walks one day and bag work another day. I could spend my entire life practicing one move. but that would do nothing except perfect that move and make me bored. so i guess i move a day would work.

hey guys. i currently had to stop going to karate classes for a while. Although they will start back up again around december, i still want/ need to train. so, how long should i train on a certain move till i should move on and train on another one. I though about working a move an hour a day( every day working a different one) do you guys have any tips on how long i should work on a certain move until moving on? thanks

one of the main reasons the martial arts was created was for defense. This goes for both yourself and others. if someone was in a fight and the fight was completely unfair. i would try and help. that is our responsibility as martial artists. I have a prayer here that depicts what we should do with our arts : A Warriors Prayor: My lord, open my eyes so that i can see the needs of others. Open my ears so that i may hear their cries. your right about learning over the internet, its not a good way to learn. I'll see my schools wrestling coach and see what its all about. If he can't help, then i should just keep wrestling with my cousin, after all you learn through experiments and experience -

Well for one thing, hypotheticlly(can't spell ) The person would be untrainded, just a normal person having me pinned. The situation is this: I'm on my belly with my hands pinned to my side and the person on his knees above me. Situation two: I'm on my back in a sort of sit up position except my hands are tucked in my chest. ( p.s. this has happened to me before, but only when " Horsing around" with my cousin) Thanks alot guys for the help -
Sorry if this topic has already been discussed but I'm a newb here. When I fight, I have to keep myself somewhat at a distance. If I end up on the ground, I seem to struggle trying to get back up. Are there any good techniques that are practical that would enable someone like me to get back up or break someones pin on me? Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you.
