  1. what are those? the b kick and b rwist and volley/540?
  2. ok sure. its built just like a regular one but its smaller. about 5-6 inches by 8 inches or somwhere around there. it just needs to be big enough for your hand to hit. you hold it with one hand and strike with the other. glad to be of some assistance!
  3. as for the makiwara you can builda personal size one. meaning it is about the size of your hand or slightly bigger. this size one is meant for being carried around so you can train when your bored like in a doctors office or something but it would still be ok in your situation. yes finger strikes are primarily for soft vulnerabl areas of the body. you would perform a finger strike to a bony surface like the forehead . yes linoleum would be bettrer then nothing and better than carpet. and as for your formula basic physics says force= mass*velocity. and the smaller the area applying the force(the two front knuckles) the more concentrated, powerful the force. so i hope that helps.
  4. yes they would and either on hardwood floors or concrete. another hand conditioning exerciseis wrapping a peice of wood with some thick rope and punching it.
  5. Or, some people can't do it, or just don't like it. I like the Caporiea stuff, but I can't do it, so its usefulness to me pales in comparison to what I know that I can do. I would still like to learn how, though. yes every move does has some purpose. all the ancient masters wou;d not have invented moves to show off. the masterts were so into it there was no such thing as showing off so yes every move does has an effect wheater you know it or not
  6. yes i know i was just havin some fun lol im bored!
  7. yes i do use a thrusting once in a while like with my snap kick i thrust into their abdomen/chest. that is a kick you really cant snap or it defeats the whole purpose.
  8. thanks i appreciate that!
  9. i am so going into the ufc when i am older! i know that alot of people say that but i actually mean it. i am taking(going to) school wrestling just to improve that aspect of my fighting and ill have to cut my hair and i love my hair so ill do just about anything to learn martial arts and to get into the ufc! keep a look oput for justin jenkins youll see him (me) one day! srry for the off topicness!
  10. I think my style would call it "showing off."then your style may have a more limited view of defense than chinese styles. in longfist styles, one use of the butterfly kick was to jump over low sweeping weapon attacks. it may have also been used to evade a dragon tail sweep. (iron broom in some styles) It actually had a purpose beyond merely "showing off" limits in martial arts suck in my view. because if you limit your martial arts you are bassically limiting yourself as a martial artist. just a random though on limits. srry for being off topic
  11. at my old tae kwon do eveyrone was like family it was awesome i wish we didnt have to move. and all you had to do to help teach a class was to be a higher belt rank than the class you are helping to teach. it was awesome.
  12. yea i wouls like to learn some new aerial kicks as well i currently can do the chinese butterfly and the tornado kickand other basic aeril/jump kicks. i could probably do alot more but idk any! help!
  13. Yes, definitely a difference in the styles. I can't do the Chinese version very well. i can do both the chinese and the tkd tornado kick
  14. this assumes that the martial athlete has inferior skill to the martial artist. quite possibly a wrong assumption. where in indiana are you? I've got family in hammond, gary and nap, so I am there on a pretty regular basis. elkhart
  15. also more susceptibility to a takedown. Everything has it's drawbacks - nothing reigns supreme. i do
  16. yea in real fights that ive seen all that is thrown is hook punches and a furry of them that is what would be difficult to defend against i think. but yea there are different situations which call for different levels of self defense as others have said. determine the level of defense neccesarry and execute it. but yea only fight to the point were they are not hitting you anymore. if they quit hitting you then you quit hitting them. the bad thing now a days is fighting in school if you are defending yourself even if you throw a punch you are just as guilty in the schools eyes. the only thing yopu are allowed to do is any form of blocking
  17. same here except i train tae kwon do and mma and in school i do weights i have weightlifting class first period.
  18. feet reign surpreme! more distance, more power
  19. not trying to knock your style but i h8 dirty fighting unless in a life or death situation. TKD: high speed, snapped kicks, power. tae kwon do is an art form in which alot of kicks are used. when the leg is thrown is is pushed at top speed(not to be cofused with max. power) and is brought back into chamber just as quickly this produces a snapping effect which reduces contact time. basic physics will tell you that the more time a force is applied the less amount of damage to the body. example in a car crash the longer the cars are touching the less damage on your. so this means the less contact time the more damage which is why our kicks are snapped. and so are our punches. personally i love this style jiu jitsu: style in which an opponent is forced to submit by the application of a joint lock. no punches or kicks at all. wrestling/grappling: opponent is taken to the ground by the use of slams and throws. then they are pinned. judo: also a throwing art. mma: application of many types or martial arts to produce an almost ultimate form of combat. one which covers all ground. standup, ground, throwing, joint locking and manipulations. muay thai: form of combat in which many strikes are from the knees, elbows or shins. alot like boxing
  20. in my opinion the martial artist has the advantage. yes you may have power but what are you going to do with it if you can touch the artist? us true martial artist can and will adapt to the situations and are virtually untouchable after time and experience( i aint rying to brag or nothin srry if it sounds like i am) and there are some that are both like bruce lee.
  21. dude! omg i learned that when i was little and yes i land on the same foot as i jump with. but its weird cause i never seen it or no one evr taught it to me i though i might have made it up but guess not. what is a situation you would use it in?
  22. yes! i call it the tornado kick. well my school did. i love the kick personnally but i use it in a combination. outside cresent to tornado
  23. well a better form of experience than getting you butt handed to you is having your older brother teach you stuff *hint hint* tis true though you can learn from a fight like what to improve on and such
  24. oh i got my own pads. i was talking about pads the school has to buy and all that stuff ot to metion they will hve to hire a sensei/sifu/teacher
