  1. I apologize for not being as active in this as I once was, I just haven't had time lately. Some interesting points have been brought up over these chapters. Obviously (at least having read all the novels so far) Jon and Dany are showing he sort of leadership skills they will need in the near future. Both characters annoy me a little from time to time, but tend to have enjoyable chapters. I'd never considered Varys to be among the Eunuch warriors, however what a twist that would be, hah. I'm not sure if you are just glossing over it, but Renly presenting Maergery to has a lot of significance. First off, it is not Renly's sister, but Loras'. The Tyrell's are often suggested to be ambitious and have a desire to have family sitting on the Iron throne and this is an example of that. Robert clearly still loved Lyanna, and I think that Renly was working with the Tyrells in an attempt to bring Margery to court in order to have Robert put Cersei aside for the girl that resembled Lyanna. This can also be used of evidence against the Tyrells in later events where power in concerned, such as marrying off Sansa in Highgarden or the death of Joffrey. Marillion is one of those characters I didn't notice was introduced early in the novels until my second read through.
  2. That sucks Kez. My wife and I suffered a similar situation several months ago when somehow a hacker of some sort got the passwords to our online backing, and proceeded to withdraw $3900. We were fortunate to settle it quickly with the bank so that payments that needed to come out wouldn't be declined, however we were pretty much told that "You get one situation like this" and that if it happened again, the banks wouldn't be so accommodating, which ticked me off. We don't use online banking now.
  3. Awesome that you have the Hedge Knight I would save it for after you have finished re reading the series, but it is a really fun read, though much simpler than the main series. Maegar the Cruel built the red keep. He is an intriguing character that I was I knew more about. Hopefully somewhere down the line. So the wall is 12 knights wide? Thats funny, I always picture it as just wide enough to have two knights walk side by side, with some extra room on both sides. Donal Noye is a prefered character of mine. I like the way he handles himself.
  4. I honestly know nothing about those particular books. They appear to be a series of essays rather than short stories. If you are a looking to pick up other works by this author get The Hedge Knight, which can be found in Legends and a sequel in Legends II.
  5. Hey bushido man, Sorry I haven't participated here in a while, things had been hectic (namely work, and my pregnant wife falling and breaking her foot!) I do enjoy discussing the chapters with you. Petyr is an interesting character to say the least. At different points in the novels I am no sure whether I am routing for or against him. Usually when facing the Starks his smugness is annoying, but not so much when he is agaisnt Lannisters or people in the Vale. In the other chapters, I was disappointed in both Robert and Ned for killing the direwolf. And Hounds reaction to killing Micah serves as a reminder if you find yourself softening up to him later in the books, even though I quite enjoy his character. Brans chapter has a lot of forshadowing, and I am interest to read his chapters in the next book, for now though, he remains a rather boring character to me.
  6. What glitches would you say the Wii has? Compared to the red ring problem of the 360, I'd say Wii hasnt had any significant problems.
  7. If I recall correctly, neither Theon nor Jon Snow liked each other. I believe Jon thinks Theon is an vein idiot, while Theon is of the mind that baseborn have no place among the noble born. I think Robb was the only Stark Theon grew attached too. I wish there could have been a meeting between them after the incidents that put them at war. Sansa and her chapters really annoyed me in the early stages of the books. She is such a prissy brat that she is always siding with Lannisters over her own family.
  8. Theon was trusted by the Starks, Robb especially. I don't doubt that Catelyn had come to trust him in many ways, bu tonly so long as he was within their household. Sending him back to Balon Grejoy was what she feared (rightfully so). Some of the things Theon said in that chapter were likely only said because he knew that it was what they wanted to hear. He was fond of Robb he admited, like a brother. I sense there was resentment to Catelyn and Eddard, but some of that may just be Theon trying to justify his actions later in the series. Remember, even after returning to his father, Theon is not planning to turn on the Starks. this is Balons plan even before Theon has set foot on the island. Theon has little choice but to go along with it, and winds up making things worse for everyone when he does.
  9. We got one this Xmas (bought it in October though, as I anticipated the shortages). All I've really played is Wii Sports so far, but I intend to pick up Mario Galaxy soon. Really looking forward to Super Smash brother Brawl even though I've never played and of the previous Smash Brothers games. Rumours os a Star Wars game using the remote as a light sabre and the nunchuk as force abilities is exciting too.
  10. Great to see you got the books back. The author updated his webpage today to announce; the fifth book is not done, nor does it appear to be near completion. D'oh.
  11. I'm going to respond to this without reading the other replies first, so as not to be influenced. If he had one hand about my throat, my theoretical reaction would be to grab the arm around my throat (lets pretend it is the attackers left hand, in this situation), with both my own hands, then swing my right leg up over his head, (hopefully) pulling the attacker down and allowing me to adjust my body beside them to finish with what I believe is called a cross arm hold or juji gatame. I suppose this might be cheating a little since you only asked for non-grapplers to answer. But the only martial art I have studied is ITF Taekwon-do, and thats where I learned this hold. Editted two spelling mistakes
  12. I think you should be tired at the end of all the katas, especially if you are putting a good amount of power in it. Its fun!
  13. Our third dan testings were open to everyone to attend, and it is encouraged, not only to support those testing, but to see what could potentially be in your own martial arts future. It is especially a treat to see something like a third dan testing, as they are not a frequent event.
  14. Tekken Tag Tournament is my favorite game, and Hworang is my favorite character. King is probably a second favorite. I really like the realism in the Tekken series (with the exception of things like, you know, boxing dinosaurs). But hte lack of fireballs ect is a nice change for a gengre that as bred from Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
