  1. Well good luck. There is no replacement for an instructor, but you can do your best from videos and books. The key is to experiment and see EXACTLY what works BEST. See if your opponent can stop it, how, etc. Will you be as good as a guy with an instructor? No. Will you be better at ground fighting than a guy who has never trained? Yes. So at least it's something.
  2. I do sometimes. Although, I also feel that most of the time I can keep a guy from standing up if i want. Or, I can severely punish him for doing so (think Vanderlie kneeing heads and kicking grounded people.) Personally, I like the ground, but I most like my opponent on the ground with me up, hurting him.
  3. I like any and every submission I can get, with the requirement that it actually DOES something. Neck cranks in my opinion are stupid and almost useless (with some exceptions) because on the street... yea, they hurt... but then what? Bicep splices? Well, if you can actually detatch the muscle, (good luck). All they amount to is a painful position to hold someone for landing strikes, and I can do that anyway. I want to break something or choke something. Or pound something, but that only requires position, not submission.
  4. I almost agree with Medici. You can do shrimping drills, shoulder rolls maybe (I never do those), that "crab walk" thing, whatever you call it like Rickson does on the beach (google video him), and drop steps so you can get some take downs.
  5. Typically the Japanese is Ju and the Brazilian is Jiu. I don't know that BJJ is that little standup, it really depends on your school.
  6. do more google-video searching, youll find more. there's even one a guy got in pride right off the bat. now THAT was sweet. Not to say this one wasn't.
  7. I think maybe you mean Royce, not Royler. Anyway, yea- look at Royce's track record. He beat the roid-raging Kimo, and Dan Severn, and Ken Shamrock.
  8. Concentrate on your hips. That's what I did to get it right.
  9. It'd probably be a pretty boring fight. A pure Thai guy gets taken to the ground, puts up no real resistance, and is beaten.
