  2. Couldn't have guessed that, looking at your avatar!! hahaha glad u noticed, I wanted to put on Armor's pic but it didnt look as cool. Hope namco makes a better one soon
  3. tekken bowl was pretty cool, i remember i always choose yoshi cos for some reason he had this infra-red aiming view, which was pretty cool. Get strikes all the time.
  4. fish cocktails/fingers, fried calamari, fried chicken and chicken nuggets. All the fried meats are a drug to me!!! Its even worst with sweet chilli sauce...
  5. in tekken 4 I thought Jin's new karate was more like shotokan cos some of his moves have long stances, but I could be wrong. What about kazuya? what styles did his moves look similar to? I like kazuya over jin, he's meaner and tougher But my 2 favs will always be king and armor king!!
  6. I respected him for his guts and dedication. RIP Steve Irwin
  7. - When you wipe your shoe marks off the elevator walls - When you force yourself to endure an hour of stance training on the train. - When you prick splinters off the forearms after you did blocking drills off a tree. - When your mother complains you keep on getting a new hole on the underside of ur pants. - When you think of your own moves - When you block a fast slamming door - When you stand, your feet are parallel - When you are proud of your calloused knuckles - When you want a girlfirend that does MA, but not better than you - When half of the stuff you bought are MA training videos/ebooks - When you try to beat the other's guys list of obsessions
  8. Yeh same here, the first I read about it was from Blackbelt Magazine. Sounds very interesting indeed, I would definately enjoy watching it. UFC/Pride is great, but gets pretty boring always seeing guys rolling on the matt and getting tired. I wana see some ACTION
  9. Ooh, that is a good quote. I like it. Yeh, its one of my favourites
  10. i welcome a young talent like you, Mr Daniel.
  11. welcome, friend.
  12. Just for curiosity to see how wide is the KarateForums community. I'm not asking for nationality, so don't check eg Asia (India) when you are living in America. Check the country of where you are using the computer right now. Me - Australia, NSW, Sydney. note: I'm sorry if i didn't list your country, my geography is not that good Cheers
  13. oh btw parkerlineage, do you know any source where I can get all (if not alot) of Mr Parker's famous quotes. i.e. "Forgiveness is for those who are too weak for revenge" They sound so cool
  14. Welcome back to the kenpo family mate. Parkerlineage I would love to read the article soon, love some good old MA history.
  15. One thing i want to point out is the purposes of these MAs. Muay Thai I believe is more offensive and the purpose is to teach you how to beat the crap out of the other person. On the other hand Karate's purpose is more about self defence and improvement on life in general. IMO I find people who study Muay Thai are generally quite aggessive and loves to fight, while Karate-kas are more peaceful and try to avoid a fight. You might also find karate would give you some pretty good fundation skills like generating power, basic blocking/parrying, footwork and stances for stability. See how you go, you can always change whenever you want. And don't forget about learning some grappling skills, it'll come in handy. Cheers
  16. So how did the fight end?
  17. I want to ask people to share some of their stories of real life self defence situations where you were actually attacked by someone or multple people. Describe what happened? Where did it take place? What was your attacker like? (ie. size and height), What did you do to defend yourself? Were there weapons involved? even include a story that happened to a friend, etc. I'm more interested in scenarios where physical conflict actually took place, so please don't write stories about how you had an argument with a lady at the supermarket... you get what i mean Over time, I wish to build up a bank of real stories which can serve as insights to us all. Unfortunately I don't have a significant life threatening situation to tell (or I should say fortunate). So thanks in advance. Cheers
  18. I thank both ps1 and TriangleMan for your comments and will take a further look into those technique as I discuss them with my instructor. I didn't want to be one of those ignorent people thinking that my system's techniques are perfect, so I appreciated the help. To give an answer as to why he performed the demonstration himself, simply because he's the head of the organisation and he is the person responsible for introducing these new techniques. It would be much more official if he did himself on his official website dont ya think? As to what level the techniques are, I don't know, that's why I started this post in the first place. I do believe in the future, these technique will be further improved/ modified as alot of our previous Kenpo technique did. Once again, thanks. One more thing, do anybody know of any video clips that would demonstrate defences of such situations. I would like to do a lil comparison just for fun.
  19. well said BLueDevil, funny
  20. Recently, Jeff Speakman's American Kenpo Karate Systems have "evolved" into a new system called "Kenpo 5.0" and some ground techniques have been added. Some of these moves are called "Gripping Leaves" and "Locking Horns" which are designed to give a degree of counter against grappling moves. Such demonstrations can be found from: http://www.jeffspeakman.com/ Grapplers, knowing the facts that ground fighting are your expertise, what are you opinions of such moves? Are there some situations where such moves may not work? I don't want to be held responsible for starting a 'Kenpo vs Grappling' argument, I am only asking for insights. Thank you.
  21. Anybody in here who does some sort of submission wrestling around Sydney CBD (or close by)? I want to check out a class cos I really want to do some sort of submission-type wrestling. To be more specific, i have preference for shoot wrestling or similar.
  22. Thanks alot guys for the help. Yeh i'm well aware of the reputation of GKR, so i know what to do.
