  1. oh yeah i feel that.....lots of searchin
  2. That is a good call. Yah. From what I have heard/seen of TKD tournaments, you probably will not fare very well coming from Karate. If nothing else, the judges will be very slow to give you a point for anything aside of a kick (at least so I figures). Good Tidings and Luck, Should You Need Them, David funny thing is my uncle/sensi also has a blackbelt in TKD as well as GoJu Ruy which i train in...so he mixes our style with tkd kicks and strongly encourages them
  3. in all reality it depends on how seriously you take kata's from my perspective i dont pratice the kata as much as i should but if it was practiced correctly all the movements are pretty much anwsers to a certian attack
  4. well if i changed anything my little cousins wouldent be here technically. because by me takin karate my instructor was introduced to my mothers sister which is my aunt. and they got married now my koncho is my uncle which is an advantage because i dont have to pay for training or anything so the only thing i would probally change is how much i was motivated in the beginning.
  5. yeah i do take go ju ryu....but i think the kicks we use are incoperated from tkd because my uncle was a black belt in TKD then switched over to Go Ju Ryu/hes my instructor by the way.. idk tho if u have to be either tkd or judo that sucks because i just want to do the point sparring. really in point sparring there is no particular style being used
  6. any one know how to go about getting on the US olympic team im thinking about taking this very serously and am curious
  7. i strongly agree with this you must use a combination of what u learned and if u happen to not be fighting first dont use that time to talk and chat it should be spent observing your opponents timing there motions and always look in the chest from there you can see whats going to happen next
  8. i myself take go ju ryu i am not familiar with isshin ryu but a can tell you that i am happy with the style i am doing the forms are focused alot on breathing and blocking but it gets more interesting the more u go on
  9. shotokan sounds good for you as a start but you can always branch off good luck
  10. much luck to u and your son stick with it karate is very rewarding
  11. this is also my favorite kick a good way to set it up may be roundhouse into backspinning kick roundhouse into hook into backspinning kick theres more you just have to pratice i tend to use this kick most when im approaching the outside of the ring with a side step off of my opponent then a backspinning kick to the face works everytime
