i like what he is trying to do with a "new age" MA system by incorporating a correspondence course to allow those interested who are interested in a specific style can obtain through "home study". I recommend these training videos to anyone who is interested in this format or style, it is completely worth it, and no way a scam, they are for real with the teachings. https://www.karateconnection.com

methology is based on Ed Parker's attributes and achievement if this is the same "Parker" we are talking about. Chuck Sullivan studied under Mr. Parker for quite awhile.

actually, it is Chinese kenpo. I was referred to a website that was commendable and trustworthy, and i tried it. I find things that i have learned in the videos a great not only work out, but reference as well. Instead of being in classes and teaching a group once or twice, i can replay and slow mo a specific technique to really break it down and understand why it is done that specific way.

are all belts for each MA tied generally the same?

Kung Fu gi

mlucasone along those lines is what i meant, but i think a gi is something sacred in a fashion, and the dojo is one like a church or religious locale. you wouldnt wear a cloak out in public if you were a monk liking in a monestary (kinda the same factor) -

i understand being proud of such a great accomplishment, but enjoy it for yourself. people dont need to know of a persons MA status or rank, just no yourself your good. "you know you good" - Mr. mijagi -

sounds like a bad act of the sifu to "promote" himself by trying to show all what he is or what he does in public. -
it may have been suggested already, but how bout the hanging leg lifts? if that gets old, throw in some twists with this exercise. another one to try is the elevated situp. suspend your upper torso over an edge of something (like a board or bar) and lift you torso up into a crunch. you dont have the floor supporting your back, which will work the lower abs and your lower back as well to stabilize. Along those lines try an inverted sit-up. hang from a bar with your legs (knees) and dangle. try and do sit-ups when you dangle (to form 90 degrees at waist. for added burn, throw in the twists again.

nice site angelaG. I take from the site its a relationship between day and night, which some (myself now) believe the difference between good (light) and evil (dark). well put in your post Jeet Kune do

whatever you decide to do, just try and keep a "neutral" view towards the art and how it was practiced, and try not to make your new art something of your opinion per se. All im saying is just try to keep the arts and the respects of its grandmasters in mind when teaching.

I love to eat, but came to realize that was my downfall. I have been portioning foods and this seems to be helping. I haven't lost any weight (had an appt today), but i am noticing differences in my body shape, i seem to be toning where i want to. I do walk fast now everyday (40 min), but i will soon be incorporating jogging as well into my routine. I agree that carbs are fuel, but like a car, if you keep filling it and not driving it or working it, you will just keep overfilling the tank with gas, and not burning what needs to be burned. Thanks for the tidbits, and cant wait to shed the pounds!

Home study course?....
de_medici99 replied to de_medici99's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
it was the IKCA program, but i had also found others that offer home study. Its nice to hear about actual people that have taken the program and to hear the success. The IKCA seems to be more accredited and trustworthy/ structured than other sites that have come up. -
i suggest changing your routine if you have one. If you train your abs the same way each day (or each other) your body will get used to the workout (not feel the burn), try mixing your workout if you can. here are a few techniques to try: HIP ROLL- lay on back flat and rock your legs down to each side of the floor together as far to one side as you can. STANDING ROTATION- stand and cross one knee up to opposite elbow (like a ground oblique crunch). alternate sides rapidly for 45 seconds. SEATED KNEE TUCKS- lay on back with legs extended, bring knees to chest, hold for 5 seconds, then lower then straight (DONT REST THEM ON THE GROUND) do this for 30-45 seconds. Try these, and good luck!
