White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. I had this problem as well, when I first started KB. It went away after a few weeks, presumably as my technique improved. If your foot is properly "turn-out" there should be no torsional strain on the knee.
  2. If they were mine i'd burn them, but alas they are not. I find it strange, however (and a little disturbing)... Long-sleeve t-shist does the trick, I was just curious if anyone else has even had seen something like this.
  3. This may seem really stupid, but does any one get a crazy rash from using Thai pads or kick-shields on their forearms? Unless I wear a long sleeve t-shirt to train in, I get covered in an angry red rash from where the thai pad rests against my arms. It lasts two or three days and is really unpleasant. I am wondering if I am allergic to leather (or vinyl?) or is there some sort of funky bacteria growing on those ancient pads (Which I doubt have ever been cleaned)?
  4. Thanks for the advise. I went in today for a second set of x-ray and good news! Turns out it was not broken after all, just a bad sprain. I still won't be training for a while, but at least I don't have to wear a cast for months or give up kickboxing permanently. No more sloppy jabs for me! Cheers, dotc.
  5. I started kickboxing about 3 months ago and was really enjoying it. The other night, training with a partner on focus mitts, I broke my wrist (scaphoid bone). I really want to continue with KB once it heals (2-6 months if I am lucky ), but it scared me how easily I got injured. Are my wrists just too weak to handle hard punching, or was this just bad luck? Has anyone here come back after a scaphoid break? I was training with wrapped hands, but no gloves. Would a pair of bag gloves have saved me? Any advise is appreciated. bummed, Dotc
  6. I live in f'ton. There is no MT gym here unfortunately. There are two regular KB gyms however, Maritime Marital Arts and another one on the north side whos name I forget. cheers, dotc
