Kyokushin - any practitioners here?
The Kyokushin punisher replied to lupus yonderboy's topic in Karate
My 2 Cents In Royamas group they allow punchs to the head but they wear gloves. I think its still in the testing stages Royama brought up a good point beacuse the current Kyokushin (IKO1) dont allow punchs to the face...anyways back to what Royamas said that on the street u cannot hesitate to punch to the face which is true. I really hope IKO1 adpots this as well..In the old days of Kyokushin u had to protect the head and groin. thats why if u watch some kyokushin katas the movement in them is that they protect the groin. I hope this helps -
Hardest test of my life my body aches...i was hit with the shinai so many times i stopped feeling pain after a while..It broke me down to the point where i got emotional becuz i was mentally and physically fatigued. The most rewarding accomplishment. just wanted to share with u guys my lil story. Thanks.

There is a clip on youtube with Sosai and Bruce lee tribute and it shows him and how light he was on his feet! he musta been late 30's early 40's at the time im guessin....age does play a factor but i am still in my 20's and know F-all but ya check out that vid its very few seconds but wow!

I am just curious is to what he took from this style (Sosai). moves kata perhaps?
-
Does anyone have further info on Sosai and his teaching of Takkean? the founder is Kenici Sawai. is this where he got the circle and point thery from? Thanks

Here is a question that is been buggin me for a while maybe some insight from u guys can help me the bigger picture. We Train karate not to use it...but we do all this training so how do we know if its effective if we dont use it? I mean Sosai Mas Oyama needed to fight alot of men in his days he took on anyone but for someone to test out there art to see how effective it is when its instilled in us not to fight. Im not sayin i should go to the night club and pick a fight with joe blow to see how i can take him or vise versa....But in the back of my mind i need to know what i can do... Do u guys think its a self confidense issue on my part? Thanks!

Few Weapons questions
The Kyokushin punisher replied to The Kyokushin punisher's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
ok Cool I got some rods from work does anyone think i should stain em? will it be better if i stain em or varnish? As well for the Chucks i was thinking of useing some O hooks and some chain would that be good? and how many links does the chain have? O-- above in picture (sorta) a O hook with a threaded end screwing in to the end of the chuck. Please any insight would be greatly appreicated...also there is a ninja book on how to make some weapons anyone know the title? -
Dunno if this was another topic posted herebut here it goes... To make yur own Kali sticks would dowling that u use to hang clothes in yur closet be any good and what would the measurements be? Nunchucks- i heard american sizes are 14 inchs and Japenese are 10 is this correct? how does one thread or use chain to make em? Also is there a guide to make yur own traditnal weapons? is there a manual or dvd that shows u the basics? I just want to dabble and practice it a bit but be as cost effective as possible. OSU!

The Kyokushin punisher replied to lordtariel's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
First Nite ever doing Kyokushin when i was in the kids class i farted really loud good thing my face was already red. And when i went for my yellow belt test my last fight i threw up in front of everyone -
How , I wonder ... And what do you mean by footwork , is it kumitee footwork or the standard katas footwork ?? For one Balance in kata and sparring.. Transiton from once stance to another.. Kata in Ura.. does that answer yur question?
-
I thought about this topic today for some reason the idea just popped in my head... When i started training again my footwork was just horrible and i was mad at myself for the sloppyness and i feel Kata is what helped me and my balance so i am greatful for kata.

If i was a instructor and i knew one of my students son wanted to go back in the other style...i wouldent see how that is a problem he is still a child and sometimes children gotta do whats best for them in order to grow i say put him where he is most comfortable. Atleast the child is doing martial arts instead of playin xbox or something. We live in a society nowadays where u gotta be so careful its not like it was 20 or even 10 years ago everyone is diffrent.
-
For me this is what kata means... Compliments the basics they help each other Opens yur mind to diff tecniques Breathing...Bas Rutten still does Katas hes UFC/MMA Bunki Footwork If you are comfortable in yur stances then u are not doin it right. Im not tryin to insult with what u are sayin but for me this is what it means im sure there are alot more reasons but then again im only a 4th Kyu so what do i know.

Opinion on UFC
The Kyokushin punisher replied to Kajukenbopr's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Was fun to watch but now to me its to much like the WWE...the last PPV i was all hyped for Ortiz and Shamrock and the fight lasted no more then 40 seconds. Not really fun to watch anymore. -

The Kyokushin punisher replied to Kazuma's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
My Question is...How could a master train for it and what would he pratice on on to see if it really works...Sure u can have knowledge and know where points to strike or hit are but to see it put to use is another story, maybe some one can answer that for me its always been a question ive often wondered. -
