  3. I fought once outside of competition. I was a Tae Kwon do practitioner at the time. I was at a party and I got into an argument with someone and I though my beer in the persons face (I was young and egotistical at the time). A security guard came over, instead of talking to me he decided to wack me over the eye with his CB radio. I saw a flash of white when i got hit, luckily I didn't get knocked out. I kicked him off with a front thrust kick to create some room then he started throwing punches and I tried to block them (inside palm blocks) but my hand timing was off. I was blocking either before he punched or after. Luckily his punches were missing, because I was backing up. It was dark so he just looked like a shadow to me. I saw his hand go by his waist and I immediately thought "GUN" so I rushed him and grabbed his hand and held it down to prevent him from pulling whatever it was he was pulling. I then realised he was putting back the CB radio so he could fight better. He tried to throw me to the ground, but luckily (I seem to use the word luckily alot don't I?) in class the day before I was sparring with my instructor, and he pulled the same hip throw on me and I was practicing all night to not get thrown again like that. This was where it got bad for the security guard. I reversed the hip throw on him and when he landed I mounted him and started ground and pounding him. Another security guard snuck up and tackled me from behind but I was so filled with adrenaline I shrugged him off hard and grabbed the security guard I was beating on and put him in a rear naked choke until I heard the other security guard and my friends pleaing with me to let him go, so I did. The Guard was half passed out. But he quickly regained consciousness and he wanted to continue fighting, but the security prevented him and the escorted me out of the party in a head lock. I then explained what happened and they decided that the guard was wrong to approach me by hitting me so they let me back in and gave me free beers the rest of the night. I think the free beers part had a lot to do with the fact that the guy who kept the party is part of my Tae Kwon Do class. Since then I left Tae Kwon do and joined Kung Fu because they teach ground fighting and sanshou
  4. I study Wing Lung Kung Fu. It's a Nothern Shoalin based CMA. We study Chinna (grappling) and stand up Sanshou fighting. I would say I have improved alot in my combat fighting. Honestly speaking, even though we practice, crane forms, monkey, forms, mantis and other animals, when we fight, it's kickboxing, take downs and ground fighting. These things have been in Shoalin martial arts training for centuries.
  5. Actually such an art exists. it's called kyuk too ki or kyuktooki It's korean kickboxing a mixture of muay thai and TKD
  6. I love the art of Sanshou and shoot boxing. Mostly sanshou because of the kickboxing and throws. Has any one here have any expereince in it?
  7. shootboxing and sanshou are very good arts for sport and self defense. check these links http://www.flsanshou.com/theFSzone/index.php http://www.flsanshou.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanshou http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot_boxing
  8. cool kung fu demonstration http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2081264493779407503&q=kung+fu
  9. If you ever see this instructor, you might not want to go to him for training http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3547874692416795304&q=kung+fu
  10. I know what you're saying. My instructor used to do it but he's left the country for good to start another school. He has left the school with his top student, but I am not confident he has the coaching ability I need, so I want additional information to supplement the training I already do. We spar every friday, but that's not enough. We used to get well rounded training. Pad drills and take downs on wednesday, grappling and ground fighting on thursday. since the original sifu has gone the pad drills have decreased
  11. I want to train for san shou bu I need a training routine or a training video link...can anybody help me?
  12. I was suppose to post this hapkido footage in the last post I made about not having anything to do with jiu jutsu. Hapkido looks alot like tae kwon do and aikido. the most complete korean art. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3604595100822897067&q=hapkido
  13. I know this has nothing to do with Jiu Jitsu but I thought it was entertaining. It's like tae kwon do and judo or aikido
  14. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8530050435368865797&q=tkd This action is really good. It's similar to the sparring in my Kung Fu class.
  15. Wait when you say no MA sports you aren't including TKD and Judo are you? They can't possibly remove those.
  16. What I don't get is why don't they just have martial arts in the olympics as opposed to TKD or Wushu? I know some will argue that you have judo seperate from wrestling and TKD seperate from boxing but I think wrestling and judo are sufficiently different enough to warrant them being seperated as well as boxing and TKD being vastly different. All popular martial arts teach striking and throws, why don't they jusy have kickboxing/sanda in olympics. I understand that this would change the entire sport and TKD would no longer look the same, but I saw last olympics tae kwon do and I was not very impressed. They look like chicken fights because the jump up and down wildly flinging their legs at each other and the faster more accurate and agile person wins. I used to do Tae Kwon do and I enjoyed every bit of it when I was a teenager, but I had to switch to kungfu and learn sanda because I got tired of fighting people and knowing that when I got beat it was because this person managed to get their toe to touch my shoulder and the judge scored it as a point. I much prefer to kick or punch and man and know that the pain inflicted breaks him down setting him up for my next strategy.
