I would like to know what running in the middle of the night has to do with bb testings. When I sat my sandan test it lasted about 3 hours only because there 5 shodans and 1 nidan testing. I performed the shodan and nidan tests along with the others.I was given 2 weeks notice that I was testing. When your ready to test you know it.Forced runs in the middle of the night and sit up and push ups seam to me to be more like mental and physical cruelty and have no bearing on earning any black belt.

Does anyone have any ideas for parent/student club bonding outside of the dojo eg:Picnics,awards banquets,dances etc.

I have assisted in black promotions but never actually done it myself.Our chief instructor in Canada normally does it.It is always avery proud moment.But like I allways tell my students.Now you can start learning Karate

In our dojo we charge $60 a month .Thats 12 classes .We also pay $20 for kids $30 for adults and $60 dollars for black belts to our provincial governing body which covers insurance and offsets the cost of sending teams to the Pan-Americans and the Worlds Championships

In our dojo we dont test anyone until the are ready.I tell my students.to treat it like any normal class.Relax and dont sweat it.Some people just cant handle tests.Your instructor knows your capabilties,a good one should cut you a little slack.I have one student in his 30s never had good test,but is an execellent student and very competent in the art

I have avery dirty and oily job. any ideas on cleaning dirt rings from cuffs and collars.Ihave tried everything.oxyclean,stain remover.any new ideas would be very welcome

my experience you have to research into the style the dojo the instructors and every aspect of what you want to learn.all instructors are not good teachers,then again some shodans are exellent teachers.some are in it to make lots of money others just have apassion for the martial arts.Confucius said"when i walk along with two others,they serve as my teachers.I will select their good qualities and follow them,their bad qualties and avoid them"
