  1. Our school has 12 belts from white to black so I had my dad make one to hold 12 belts, I think the black should go into a shadow box or something. But anyway, I just had him measure the "height" and width of the folded belts and they are pressed into the display and they stay just fine.
  2. I'm sure some or most have seen this, but I did a search and didn't find it...anyway great video featuring original cast members "His name isn't even Johnny"....classic. If anyone has this mp3 let me know. https://www.sweeptheleg.com
  3. I just bought these also, I didn't "waste" money on the stand though, if you're already working out who cares if you have to bend over to pick up weights Get an adjustable bench for $50 and you're good to go.
  4. I'm only a white belt, but the first 10 forms for testing are ITF, and red and above use Shotokan katas. https://www.mwsda.com 13 belts in all...ugh
  5. And for the Shotokan katas http://www.natkd.com/shotokan_katas.htm
  6. My school although not completely TKD or Karate, uses ITF Tae Kwon Do forms for testing. I found this link, though not in English it has videos of the forms. http://www.hyong.net/index.htm
  7. I asked my instructor and he told me it was a hybrid if you will, geared more for practical use than for sport. They have a website https://www.mwsda.com So far it has been pretty good, and the only place around that would take my 4 year old. Both the boys love it!
  8. Just something I did back in the day...stand on at the bottom of some stairs if you have some, then lean forward and place your hands on the edge of the stairs and do the pushups that way. You will still feel it and it will work you up to regular pushups in no time.
  9. Thanks for the reply. Without getting too deep, the kids are struggling with thier parents divorce : ( so it's not about self defense it's about giving them something to do, to look forward to, and they are only 5 & 6 so it's not about self defense, at least not yet.
  10. There is really only 1 other school that's at a manageable distance, and it's an ATA school. More expensive and I wouldn't be able to take the classes with my boys. Long story short I have them every other week and will attend class with them, then on opposite weeks the adult class.
  11. I'm going to start classes next week with my two younger sons and one of the few schools around here is... http://www.mwsda.com/ I talked with the instructor and he seemed nice enough, prices are on par. I just have been reading on this forum and it was always TKD vs Shotokan, while this school claims to be a combination of those two. Any feedback would be appreciated.
