  4. I have not seen those fights. I really have not seen too many of his early fights when he was in his prime except for one of the last PKA fights that was held on PPv in the early 1990's. He has fought about 3 times since then and I was at all of those fights in Atlanic city. He fought Jose Pena iin 1994 12 rd decission win, Gotcha in 1997 5 rd decission win and Devon Cormack in 1998 5 rd draw. All where tough fights. He probably got some decissions that he should not have gotten in the last 2 fights but he is A legend in this area and desrves alot of respect. It would be good if he continued to train more fighters like Paul Guitirez as he is A talented young fighter.
  5. Yes, Of course I know Paul Vizio. I have known him for some time. He was one of the best fighters from the east coast. He had some fighters fighting in Kickboxing for A while but I have not seen them since he had one of his guys Paul Guitirez fight on our show A couple of years ago.
  6. No Problem, I am happy to be in such good company next to Cung Le.
  7. Hey Patrick, i just wanted to let you know that we added the link to our web page. it is on our links page.
  8. Cung is A top fighter and there are many top fighters that can fight him. I would like to see him fight A rematch with the Russian guy. There are many top pros that are not Sanshou fighters that would fight him . I would like to see him fight Someone like Olando rivera the ISKA/Kick full contact world champion who fought Sanshou in China against A national champion and Ko'd him or someone of his caliber in the pro's. There are also many other top fighters that I know that would take the fight if offered and even some very good begginner pros that where amteteur champions. Cung is A really talented fighter and I do not think any one will have an easy time with him. I do think that he can find tougher fights than he has had though.
  9. Hey Javier, I am not trying to pick on you but I know very well that the negativity in the sport from within is probably our largest obstacle. We need to work on showcasing the talent in the sport more instead of being negative. I am sorry but I still do not know your teacher but I do not deal with traditional styles much any more unless they are involved with full contact fighting sports .I am friends with Raymond from Pro Form fitness and kickboxing which is A Taekwondo stylist in brentwood which use to have some ameteur fighters A long time ago and I actually use to use his gym to trian in on Saturdays when I first turned pro because I did not have A ring to train in except for boxing. You mentioned that you fought both in Taekwondo and Kickboxing. Where did you Kickbox ? Who was it for ? If you are interested in you or your students fighting on our shows we are always interested in new schools and fighters getting into the sport.Or If you are interested in trainning with me or just getting some sparring in for you or your students you can E Mail me.
  10. Yes, I did work Shonie's corner. He more than likely has very good throws but as we all know Cung Le has the best throws in the buissness. Early in the fight Shonie was throwing with Cung and it definately was not A good idea. Then he started to efectivley stop Cung from throwing and he fought better standing his ground. He fought his heart out and Cung was just the better man that night. It was A very good fight and the crowd enjoyed it. Cung Le told me that Shonie was unbelievably tough. Cung clearly won the fight on his low kicks and throws but it was not an easy task.
  11. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GREAT EVENT !! I just returned from the Cung Le show in San Jose California. This was A great event that was A fund raser for the Twin Towers childrens fund. I was very happy to be a part of the show. Cung put together A very excititng night of fights with A great entertainment show in the middle of it. The response of the crowd was awsome. My opinion of some of the fights. 1St Fight Cruiserweights ameteur : Good war between 2 good strong up and coming hungry guys ends in decission. 2nd Fight Welterweight Ameteur: Santos leads with good agressive style and good technique and stops his game oppoment with seconds left in the fight. 3rd Fight : Womens ameteur Chrissy yandolli My student vs Jenna Castillo starts out very strong in: Rd 1 cracking chrissy's nose and causing alot of blood also gainning control with throws. Rd 2 Jenna still controlling the action with throws and wins 1st 2 rds easily. Rd 3 Chrissy Comes back after adjusting to new style of fighting and drops Jenna with A right hand and now seems much more comfortable in this style of fighting,Even gaining some points for some good clean throws. Rd 4 Chrissy starts off where she left off throwing good strong combinations but Jenna does not back off and the last rd was all out war untill the final bell. Jenna wins Decission in A great womens Sanshou fight.Congradulations on winning A great fight Jenna. I would just like to congradulate Chrissy Yandolli on fighting A great fight in A style which she is not used to . We only had 4 weeks to prepare her for the different style of fighting as she just fought in A Full contact title fight USKBA/WPKA on Ring of Fire 8.Chrissy really liked Sanshou and is looking foward to training more for this type of fighting. 4Th Fight : Rudy Ott VS Peter Kaljavick This was A good fight with Rudy taking control early with his throwing skills and sweeps . Peter starting slow as is the norm for him. Rudy takes the first 3 rds easy and Peter comes back to gain some momentum in rds 4 and 5 while hitting Rudy with A Hook kick and breaking his nose in rd 4 and also doing very well in rd 5. Rudy Ott wins By Decission !! 5TH Fight Mahtee Jadeepitak Vs Danny steele Danny Steele was rtecovering from A Groin injury and still took the fight against A great Thai fighter. Danny Steele starts rd 1 strong landing very hard body shots and Mahtee showed his great boxing skills with using his movement and countering and droping Danny in rd 1. The rest of the fight had Mahtee continuing to show his varity of skills with great kicks and punches but most of all his ring generalship .There where no more knock downs in the fight but it was A pleasure to whatch these 2 great fighters against eachother. I can't wait to see a rematch with Danny at 100 % It was my pleasure to work in the corner with all of the fighters that I helped out that night but it was especially An honner for me to work the corner of Mahtee against another fighter that I respect A great deal like Danny Steele. Mahtee is now fighting out of Indiana and many fighters in the U.S. can learn alot from watching him fight , He is A great fighter and also A great embassador of the martial arts ,I think that we can all learn from someone like him. Main Event: Cung le Vs Shonie Carter Cung le was Cut in the first rd over his right Eye and it looked as it could be a tough night for him but he showed his heart and his skill by not letting it get to him. He got off some very strong Low kicks and his well known Suplex throws in every rd . Shoney showed tremendous heart by never giving in and fighting hard untill the final bell. This fight was a good test for cung Le who has not fought in 13 months and Shoney definately came to fight. I know very well it is very hard to promote A big event,Have your top students fight hard fights and then you have to fight A hard fight to top off the night. Cung has a very strong following and I am glad to see his sucess .I met Cung Le in 1994 in his first major Sanshou tournament which he took home the gold medal in Orlando Florida.I am looking foward to more events like this put together by Cung le and USH!! productions. 12. I agree that China may get Sanshou into the Olympics in 2008 and I hope that is true. I am also aware of the fact that Greece is hosting the Olympivs in 2004 and they are working very hard to add kickboxing when they host them as well. When you say that having different styles can't work is just not true as everywhere that I have travelled the most sucessfull events are usually the ones that showcase different styles. I showcase all full contact styles on my events and the crowd loves it (Ring Of Fire kickboxing ). They also have all of the above mentioned styles above except for Sanshou in the World championships and it is extremely sucessful. I hope that they add Sanshou in the future as It was my origional fighting style,And I just returned from Cung le's show in California.By the way there where over 65 countries and 1,000 athletes at the world Championships in 2001. The style with the most athletes competing was Full contact above the waiste with sweeps and no spinning back fist allowed. Many of the athletes compete in different styles and it is A very posative envirement for all.
  13. I agree that they should ave all 4 styles of Kickboxing in the Olympics ,Even have light contact and semi contact so that all stand up fighting is represented. They have all of these styles except for Sanshou in the WPKA World Championships in Greece and it is very sucessful.
  14. There are many people in the kickboxing industry trying to get kickboxing into the Olympics. The WPKA is trying to get Kickboxing into the 2004 Olympics as Greece willl host them. They have A very Sucessful World championship that has fighters in all styles from all over the world and the next one is in May of 2002. To say that most kickboxers don't know how to kick is laughable but that is OK if you have not experienced the ring yourself it is easy to judge something that you are not participating in. I See that you are from long Island as we have some of the most popular Kickboxing shows in the U.S. and the World held here ,So you should go to some events and see how they are. If you think you are better than the kickboxers or have students that would like to prticipate we are alawys looking for new fighters and schools to have as part of our shows.Ring Of Fire Kickboxing , We have all rules styles on our shows. This is not to insult or challenge you but it is odd how someone from Long Island NY has such negative things to say about the fighters in sport and I have never heard of you. I agree that sometimes they don't show the best fighters on Tv but believe me there are many great fighters right in your own comunity never mind the rest of the World. We are producing shows for Tv now and hope to showcase some of the best talent from all over the World in the Future. 15. The reason that they don't use the spinning Back fist in Canada and in most of europe is because of the dangers stated above. I have seen many fighters get caught with the elbow and get ther cheeks broken by it. This is why the ISKA has A rule that even if you land with anything other than the glove portion of the glove you loose A point . This rule is to try to make sure the fighters only atempt the technique when they are confident in landing it clean. I like this rule and also think if a fighter looses becasue of this foul the fight should be A no contest or the fighter throwing it should loose,The problem with that is it usually is an accident so it would not be fare to loose because of it if your winning and hit the guy with your elbow acidently. As it has been proven many times it is probably the hardest technique you can throw in the sport when thrown correctly and the fighter can not see it coming which those are always the shots that do the most damage.
  16. I turned 35 in Octeber . I hope I am not getting too old for this stuff. I feel beeter now than I did when I was 16. I live A much healthier life style now. I guess you are as old as you feel.
  17. I have been on both sides of very good spinning back fist. I was once knocked down in the 4th rd of a A 10 rd fight with an elbow from an atempt at one and the ref did not see the elbow so I had only 8 seconds to recover and luckily I got up to win the fight. I was also cut very badly in another Title defence when I was hit with the rist that has hard tape on it in the forehead and was at risk of loosing because of the blood,Luckily I still won the fight. This is why many don,t like it because of the risk. But even though I have been wounded . I still think it is A great techniqe ,We just need to watch and make sure that if it land with anything other than the glove the fighter should loose a point or the fight should be A no contest if it has to be stoped unless it is done on purpose than the fighter should be discaulified. I have also Knocked out and knocked down many fighters with A clean spinning back fist .When done by an experienced fighter it is an awesome martial arst techniqe that is very effective.
  18. No problem Patrick,I will give the link to my web master.
  19. Hey Jiggy9: Thank you very much for your kind words. When you mention your friend wanting to get out of street fighting likeI did. This is what I can never explain to poeple when they ask why do I spend 7 days A week trying to teach , and promote A sport that we don't make any money in. Well your words about your friend say it all for me. Thank you, TOMMY "BEE"
  20. Hi everyone, I am sorry that I have not been on here much latley because I was in training for my fights. So I did not see this thread. I am not sure which fight you saw on Tv as I have fought alot this year and they also repeat shows often. If you tell me which fight it was ,who I fought or where it was held I can give you my thoughts of the fight. I am glad that you saw it as I am always happy when they show Kickboxing on Tv . The more exposure that kickboxing gets on Tv the more it will continue to grow. I would like to wear the forum on my pants but as Patrick said I have long term sponsors that pay for those adds so I can not give it for free to anyone. I do have A link to the kickboxing.com site from my web site which takes you here as there message board. I will try to check this site more often now that I will not be training until after the hilidays.
  21. Sorry: That was Jiggy's questions that I responded to.
  22. Yes Havock, I was On walker Texas Ranger the "Legends " Episode and I was lucky to apear with the greats like Chuck Norris,Don Wilson,Joe Lewis,Bill Wallace ,Howard Jakson, and Bob Wall. These are all great legends of the sport and it was awesome for some of us current champions to get to work with all of those greats at the same time. This was A chance of A lifetime and I will never forget it. I also coach Team USA and next I will take A team to Canada On December 12 th .
  23. I fight professional at the top level and have been for many years . I have always done it because its fun and I love the sport , Never for the money. This is same reson for teaching, promoting shows and managing fighters to do my part in helping the sport to grow. If anyone is looking to make alot of money than theyshould choose another sport than kickboxing.
  24. If you tell us where you are from I will try to find A good school to recomend for you to go to. _________________ tommybeeatafc@yahoo.com http://www.ringoffirekickboxing.com [ This Message was edited by: tommy bee on 2001-12-01 18:44 ]
