  1. I think there may be one or two other ones, but I have found that this one is definitely the best! Just as a side note, he is going to be incorporating vidcast into his show. Most excellent!
  2. In response to the original question "how good to you have to be to spar?", IMHO I think that one should at least know the basics of punching and kicking. I feel that there can be to much opportunity for one to be intimidated if thrown in too early without "some" understanding, and then in turn not want to continue to study that art.
  3. ShorinRyuSensei said: In the 30+ years since I started karate training, I've yet to wear head, hand or foot pads except in full contact sparring. Then I use traditional Okinawan bogu, which is a lot different than what most people use. heck, I don't even wear a groin cup! Yeah! There's nothing like shorin ryu conditioning. I've got a few sore spots right now from last night.
  4. It's a whole new concept that Mr. Norris has, from what I understand, been wanting to do for several years now. It's team fighting. It's formatted in such a way that there is continuous fighting. The debut competition had Dallas vs. Oklahoma and Houston vs. L.A. WCL will be going mainstream I believe in Februrary(?). You can check there website at https://www.worldcombatleague.com for more info. and also https://www.karatekast.com has a pretty cool podcast feed on parts of the fight.
  5. Hey ya'll! Has anybody heard anything about Chuck Norris's World Combat League? Just trying to get some idea of how widespread this has gotten since it's debut in Dallas. Thanks in advance for your responses!
  6. Yeah! I'm a regular listener. It is a pretty good quality podcast show. Great subject matter. And clean too! I also heard the host of the show is a great martial arts instructor. He seems to be pretty straight forward too. I would encourage everybody to listen. https://www.karatekast.com
  7. What the heck, might I ask, is Tong Il Lo? And what does ICMAA stand for?
  8. It seems as martial artists we tend to want to conjure up a vast array of technique to end a fight. When at the heat of the moment, I wonder if all or any of the scenarios we have played back in our minds (over and over again i'm sure), would actually even give the opportunity to apply the given technique played in our minds. All that to say this! Kick him in the nuts, poke him in the eye(s) and walk away!
  9. I would definitely have to agree that the eyes should be towards the center. But not focusing on the center so much that your peripheral vision is not being used.
  10. Let's take a look at some well-rounded UFC fighters. How about Rich Franklin! Granted he is only a welterweight (?), but pound for pound maybe?
