  1. IMHO belts in martial arts are a joke! alot of martial artist that get belt rankings are in terrible shape. what counts is the application your using it for. if your learning ex... karate for street fighting what good is having a black belt if you can't do more than 3-4 moves and be tired. if your not in shape the person in better shape has the distinct advantage over you. if you trip up and use force against force and your not in shape your going to lose. what ever happened to the day when there was no belt rankings. you were only judge by your reputation to win the battle.
  2. yeah this reminds of a story i have. well one day i got in a street fight with this bigger dude and ended up getting ddt into the ground. well i got home and man then i started to have this pounding headache. eventually i too had to have a cat scan. the funny thing is when i got to the hospital i got this doctor that was so against boxing he refused to beleive i got a headache from my head being slammed into the concrete and he went on and on how boxing cuases this. i dont know about anyone else but ive never had any type of headaches, concussion from boxing. oh well the only way he new i boxed was cuzz of the tshirt i wore that day.
  3. yeah them things are just to make it easier to do. lighter- used to make the tips of the rope pointed so it goes in easier. candle wax- it is used on the ana so the rope slides in easier pocket knife- use this to cut the rope. you should have something like this when your in the woods its a very handy tool. and a lighter whats the point of lighting the fire with a turning stick. make the advances of time work for you instead of doing it the hard way.
  4. Thats what cops use to do when thugs in us started carrying homemade nunchakus before they made them mostly illegal to carry around in us except in some states like mine HA HA HA. Well they use to lay back because most people that used them before were not trained properly and they would end up hurting themselves then the cops would strike.
  5. Oh yeah one thing i forgot to post dont forget the other hand its your protecting hand. It protects you from getting hit from the chuck and makes your form look better to if it aint just sitting there not doing anything. Yeah Pretty soon im going to get a video page going of nunchaku moves on my page. Hopefully that will help people out with the nunchaku ?'s
  6. I think i know what your talking about. Its like a diagonal swing under your armpit and a catch behind your head. Correct if im wrong. Heres some tips. 1. practice the motion in slow motion till your body can remember the exact motion with out you thinking about it. then slowly speed it up. 2. Hold the nunchaku near the bottom(Kikon-bu). 3. When the swing is coming back place your hand slightly behind your head. This is one of the harder moves to do especially when you got slightly short arms. I have trouble with this move. dont get discourage. but if your getting any brain damage its time to lay the chucks down or practise other moves. Key word do the moves slow then slowly speed up. Remeber if you cant do the moves slow there is no way your going to do them fast with good form.
  7. Yes when you swing them pull your fist back, and downwards to your stomach. Practise this a few times so you dont hit yourself in the nuts. also when it flys back at you its a good time to practise recovers. ex... a side swing the nunchaku will sideways and start the pullback and the nunchaku will swing downward immediatly to you hand or your nuts if the timing is slightly off. once you become really good at the nunchakus there should be almost no body contact at all and if there is it should be light contact like a feather hitting you. 8. yeah this gets me people teach that hitting girl is wrong. I have know quiet a few women that are great martial artist. this is a terrible double standard that i hope someday will stop. i hope i dont make anyone mad here. if you strike someone be prepared to strike back dont hit if you aint got the guts to take it back. and people saying a slap dont hurt. remeber its still a striking manuever.
  9. Yeah if someone hit me your going to get hit back no matter who you are. sex doesnt matter. what makes the slap different from the punch they are both attack movements.
  10. You beat me to what i was going to say to look for an equalizer. Yes your jacket or simalar peice of clothing works wonders on trapping the arm knife. what better than an umbrela or cane for a long type of range weapon. even a breif case is a good weapon. when confronted by a knife dont forget your everyday items. what do you think nunchaku sai, came from you get the point.
  11. Yeah Bon you got to be careful with people who lose concentration and and go off balance. when my brother and me practice knife fighting he will do these moves at a resepectable distance and i commit to closing in from to far he will get in 2-3 slashes in. like martial artist says you have to be faster than he is. yeah i agree with martial artist on not putting personal info on computer. but i got my own reasons for it. i got lots of people that hate me but oh well.
  12. I got some more info on this post. 1. when trying to get away you must keep an extreme eye on the knife attacker and your environment. keep using your movement so you can get away. try not to ever turn your back at him either this gives him a chance to stab you without seeing. 2. In an actual knife fighting scenaro you must keep your distance and know when to close in. If you time these even a hundreths of second off your a fish out of water. 3. Be careful about actually cometting to the knife fight you never know how good this guy is with a knife. if he is experience he will cut you on return, reverse, and reflex actions.
  13. I don't think you should have to wait to do tournaments or for sparing. but thats my opinion. you teach someone forms and in actual combat it all goes out the door. i think people should be at least allowed to spar quickly to get them accustumed to a battle situation. and to get used to addrenaline rush. once it hits most people only rely on a few techniques and the sooner your able to control this the better. thats just my opinion.
  14. Yeah but think if you broke the tree in front of them what they would say. yeah it takes sometime to toughen up your body to take abuse like that so just keep with it and know your limits.
  15. if i was the knife fighter againts martial artist. in a right hand stance i'd cut the fang against his leg as it comes up against me. (cut the side of his leg). then switch grip to a foward grip of the knife. while he is getting to the reaction of getting cut. and stab in the motion of switching grip. hey guys heres a training tool to train with knife fights http://www.nolieblades.com i think i got the link right. it is a knife with a felt backing that you coat with lipstick to know where you have struck against someone.
  16. I now the basics on why the nose bleeds. Well it depends on of a couple of factors your nose shape, how far the capalaries in the nose go down it, and how you got hit. there are procedures that a doctor can do to cut down on nose bleeds. like when i use in amatuer boxing bleeding is frowned apone and people ofthen lose fights when there nose bleeds so alot of boxers would get there nose catorizied(spelled wrong. basically burning the inside of the nose. another thing to cut down on nose bleeds is to cover the inside of the nose with vasaline. i hope this helps.
  17. I couldnt resist. *Beep* Zipper!!! wait can you stand still while i beat you with my nunchaku bag.
  18. I question your motives for wanting to carry your nunchaku consealed. If its okey concealed and okey to carry them period. why just not carry them out in the open. If someone knows you got a weapon he probally is not going to mess with you in the first place.
  19. Yeah if it bounced back and hit you theres a trick to doing that. when you strike objects people with nunchakus you try to hit with the tip if the nunchaku, and the strike point should be in front of the direction of the motion of your swing.(sorry if it was a bad explantion.) One way to get into the habbit of hitting with the tip is to go outside and practice hitting leaves off a tree(the one your aiming at not the one beside it). You be amazed how hard this can be when you first try it. If you you hit the bag and it busted in half ha ha. just jk. yeah you have to be extremly careful what you hit with your nunchakus. i was reading somewhere on the net that a average person can hit with the power of 2000lbs per sq in. i might be wrong on the power. its been awhile since i lost the link on that. i noticed that people say practise with foam chucks i personally dont believe in this. cuase once you get used to one type of weapon it is even harder to get use to another one so actually i think its a good idea to practice with a variety of different types of nunchakus. to get a feel of them all. but use one type of nunchaku as your primary practise one. Sorry for the long post.
  20. I be careful about making them at a school type environment. yeah they got alot of tools to help make weapons but with the way schools are today(zero tolerance) or the posibilty that somewould would steal the weapon you made and use it against someone. could make you liable for the crime he commited. just be extremly careful. I got a website that explains how to make nunchucks but i dont know if its okey to post so i wont.
