    I find female teachers to be the scarier teachers you can find. But all people are different and all teachers are going to teacher different no matter what their sex is.

    That might have something to do with you being in the part of the "Isshinryu Belt" of popular state for it. (assuming you are really from NY) Isshinryu is pretty darn big in NY, PA, NJ and pretty big in OH, IN and MI. Isshinryu is soread out all of the place now but these state are pretty darn covered in dojos when you compare it to some where like MA

    I don't like how 99% of them look on any belt and black is more annoying to my eyes for some reason. My dislike for how they look goes along well with the fact that my school doesn't use them. But I can see how they would be very useful at times and I don't hold it against anyone for wearing them or anything like that.

    Be surprised! There are tournaments in China. I have a friend that has gone there many times to compete

    what's wrong with being in a system for 8 years before they get their black belt?

    If a black belt is not old enough to teach a adult class then they are not old enough to be a black belt. I know many will disagree, but it's how i feel.

    I know black belts that can win with a yellow belt form. But you are right not many people would, or should try to.

    black belt or kyu right before it. But that's just me and most will say i'm nuts. And i got to say, i think Isshinryu has some of the best hands around.
