strangulation/neck breaks?
mourning_ replied to mourning_'s topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
hey all i have to say guys is, i was a complete noob, trying to get any and all info in my head in the shortest amount of time. the post was study, i've taken up judo and its great. but anyways at least it showed i had some motivation but yea, if i could, i'd have this post deleted. -
ok 2nd week in a row this crap has happened! same guy he's about 2-3 inches taller than me and about 50lbs heavier. so anyways i just keep getting hit. other than the fact that he keeps throwing hooks when we are only suppose to be throwing straights, im not sure what im doing wrong. some one told me i need to bob and weave more. also how came i bridge the gap between me an dthis guy without getting hit everytime? he has a much longer reach. please help any tips for bridging gaps, bobbing, or fakes would be greatly appreciated.

so i've been doing an into to FIGHT class. (fight class is basically a class where you spar, basically MMA stuff) so i've gone the first 2 weeks and im the youngest by far. most are 25+ im 17. and i've had the gitters a bit. i think im just not use to the level of intensity as well as the fact someone is tryign to hit me. All we've covered so far is boxing basics. I trained with someone this weekend. We sparred, no gloves, but we pulled back punches to the face. i think im getting better, but any suggestions to getting rid of these gitters? i think i just need to p my intensity and not be on the defense the whole time.

3 months worth it?
mourning_ replied to mourning_'s topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
oh man, i've been twice, and so far i've learned, 3-4 takedowns when on your knee's and a throw from a rear choke (one arm wrapped around neck) and both of those go into arm bars, and then i learned an arm bar for when opponent is on top of you. now if i only knew mount, etc etc etc and the names, i'd be good to go. oh ya, i don't ship for about 6 months now, ohray! -
3 months worth it?
mourning_ replied to mourning_'s topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
oohhrayyy! i start tuesday. 2-3 nights a week along with my krav maga. thanks alot guys. -
I was wondering if taking just 3 months of BJJ would be worth it? Now i know what your first reaction is, NO. BUT i thought it might help me out a little bit with ground work. I've been taking krav maga for two months now, and its helped ALOT. I plan on taking it for the next 3 1/2 months also. So i thought that mayeb soem BJJ or some form could help me out a little bit. (i ship for boot camp febuary 5th, and i plan to take 6-7 months worth of Gracie Jiu Jitsu? after boot) comments?

I just thought of this incident yesterday and thought i'd post it to see if anyone had some input. Last year there were these two kids. Both relatively small and not a big threat to anyone. Well this one kid was picking on the other kid for about a week straight. Well it was on a Friday and i guess the kid had enough of it and he just turned around and slugged the kid right in the nose...Now this is where my question comes in...The kid started like..convulsing. Like he was having a seizure. Blood was everyone and he was on the ground shaking...Any idea what happened? The only good part of the story was, the didn't ever hate each other before or after, but i guess the kid was taking the jokes personally. Well after they both got back to school (suspended) it become just a funny joke, no hard feelings. So any ideas what caused this kid to 'convulse' ... (not sure what it was)

Would this work? (good read i'd say)
mourning_ replied to mourning_'s topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i just read somehwere else that boxing the ears with cuped hands will have this effect. (well i read it last night at about 12:30) wish i could remember where hmm... -
Alright so i've been tryign to find someone to box with me. Well never could find anyone willing to. So today an older friend says he heard i was tryign to find someone and he says he wants to. Basically he is 3 years older than me. He's 20 and has a big ego. Anyway he's 2 inches taller than me and weighs about 50lbs more than me. Maybe 60. He has no training, just ego. How should i approach this boxing match? It's all body shots, with gloves. I might just box his freind and he box one of mine, but if i face someone this much bigger than me, how should i box em? i was thinkin move fast, attack, get out of his range, move, attack. really my only advantage is, i might be faster, and i have some training and decent knowledge. Also should i try and condition my stomach and sides? We are supose to box in about 2 weeks. condtion meaning, take soem hits to stomach/sdies etc so i will be use to it. thanks for your help

Would this work? (good read i'd say)
mourning_ replied to mourning_'s topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
it says the 'simultaneous boxing of the opponents ears, will rupture both eardrums, causing a blackout. (thats the caption. when it describes it in text it says 'ear concussion blow:...you can rupture both ear drums by cupping both hands and simultaneously striking them against his ears. A type of concussion will occur that causes the victim to become 'slap happy' and will make him an easy target to dowith as you will' remmeber its form the rear and im not so much worried about the scenario more so the strike. so hopefully i've cleared things up and yes it is by Rex Applegate. so any thoughts? ps - good book. -

Would this work? (good read i'd say)
mourning_ replied to mourning_'s topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i believe the strike was more with the palms of the hands. not so much a knife hand. sorry it was late last night, and i could tell you exactly what it was, but i did not bring the book to school...wouldn't want to get it taken away but yes i know the scenario would be rare but i was wondering more about the strike itself. so when the strike is performed, is it supose to be a strike, or a strike and then hold until they go down? you said air is supose to be trapped, so thats why i asked. (im going have to read those posts several times to understand them btw) also are you an ear doctor!?!? jk, great info -
hey everyone i just got this book 'kill or get killed' great bok. it shows a technique where u sneak up on opponent. (obviously this is NOT self defense, but the technique could be used in self defense possibly) anyways basically you simultaneously hit your opponent in both ear/eardrums with a knife hand? (sorry i forgot what they called it, but its a well known strike) so you strike the eardrums simultaneously and its supose to cause blackout by cusuhing both eardrums. whats your thought on this? would it work effectively? if you guys like it, maybe i can post some more stuff for ya =D

ah i good advice. except calling 911 or the management def wouldn't of worked in this situation. but having somoene go get management would have been a good idea. ended up not goign into anything but i wasn't planning on doign anything unless something happened. (i believe 1 of the 2 said that above. -
