  1. I had to grapple an opponent that was about 6' 7" and 295pnds and all he had was shorts and a T-shirt. The thing is I stand 6'1" and 167pnds. A T-shirt on a guy that weighs 295 pnds isn't really going to help with judo throws or Gi takedowns. It will rip off like toilet paper. The bigger the guy with less clothes the more sweaty he is going to get quicker. And the harder it is to hold on to him. What I suggest doing is go for locks that can't be slid out of. Triangle choke that holds his head in works well and gulliotine choke as well. Stay away from the Armbar because they will slide straight out of it even if it is locked in, not all the time but most the time they will get out. I was in Full Gi when I grappled him and he slid right out of the armbar to an ankle lock. I was angry at first because he didn't have a gi and I was a full disadvantage anyway you looked at it. but I decided that it is better to train in unfair circumstances so next time it is fair you have more experience in taking harder challenges......
  2. When it comes to grappling I feel most comfortable on my back because you are using less energy and the blood flow is my flush. you don't have to really worry about getting tapped out on the bottom mount because you only let them take what you give them. When starting from the top position you want to go ahead and let them take you to the ground, but only on your terms. when they go to lock up jump up in the air and wrap your legs around his waist and yank back so you are now in the full guard. I have a book on submissions that I bought online at barnes and noble.com and this book is what you need to learn the defense to the stronger opponent. The name of the book that you should check out is no holds barred fighting by Mark Hatmaker and Doug werner. these holds doesn't matter if your big or small if you have the speed you can take anyone. thats what BJJ is all about! Leverage use some judo throws that work on the basis that the shorter you are the more you can throw bigger opponents easier. Show check it out and remember Royce Gracie He won almost all his matches from the full guard position. just cause your the one thats on the bottom doesn't mean your meant to lose. apply yourself and your skills and you will come out on top even from the bottom.........Later
  3. I like that fact that I am left handed. Simply because when it came time to learn the techniques from block form instead of kick form I could pick it up alot quicker than the right handed students. They learn from the kick form with the right hand which they are used to doing everything. I felt right at home doing it from either side cause I have had to learn alot of things already in my life from a different stance or hand. I had to learn to play guitar right handed because I didn't have the money to buy a left handed guitar. I was given a guitar as a gift and learnt the way to play it with my right hand so martial arts techniques are no different. when it comes to sparring I think I have an advantage because I have had to practice so many other things with my right hand that it is versed just as good as my left.
  4. Well I know that! Thats why I was asking what kind of power training for strikes increases power over speed. Thanks for the comment cause thats not what I call a tip.
  5. I am fairly new to tricking as of right now all the tricks that I have in my bag are the 540 kick, the tornado kick, The Front hand spring, and working on the back tuck and back handspring. I am looking for tutorials that can help me with keeping my forms. If any one has any advice about the back flip let me know. I know advice doesn't give you the testicular fortitude to do a trick but any little tip helps.............Later
  6. I realize that you can't just learn how to knock someone out with one punch, But there has to be some sort of condition training that helps with power that can deliver devastating blows even if connecting in places that aren't normally pressure point as (example: The temple). If you guys have any articles or helpful tips it would be appreciated, I don't want to always resort to my grappling I want to be be versed just as good in my stand up game...........Later
