  1. --WOOOOOPS lol I posted a new topic instead of continuing the thread, my bad. This was for the knee injury & shiko dachi post, thanks for everyone who helped out THANK YOU so much. I now realize that I have chondroblahblahblah! Sorry if that sounded sarcastic, I am really thankful. I now realize the cause of this injury isn't shiko dachi at all. It's me biking back and forth 4 times to school every day, and my bicycle seat isn't set high enough so my knee repeatedly bends over 90 degrees. I'm going to go out and fix my seat right now. Thanks so much
  2. Oh it feels perfectly normal to stand in, it's just when I get up after standing in it for a long time my knees hurt. Also, I've noticed my knees have starting...hmm how to put this..crackling? I can hear them when I move them, though only sometimes, and only in my right knee.
  3. I'm just wondering, does anyone else experience knee pain after getting up out of a shiko dachi? The pain is mainly on the left side of the right knee, and the right side of the left knee, in the groove right beside the kneecaps. I'd also like to know how to get rid of this pain. Are there any exercises that can help with knee pain? Or maybe stretches? I'm really not sure. It's kind of annoying, because I'm only 16 and I'm already experiencing pain from a problem that's generally associated with getting older. Any help is much appreciated. - Oh yeah, for those who read my post about the groin injury, it's been getting better slowly ever since I started wearing compression shorts. When I actually am wearing them I experience little to no pain at all, and I've noticed the pain has reduced even when I'm not wearing them.
  4. yeah i did, but the doc said that just some light stretching should do the trick....and it's sort of odd because it's been bothering me since september....ugh. I sure hope i haven't ruined myself for life. that would suck big time.
  5. Ok, heres the story. Back in september 2004, I started taking Goju-Ryu karate. I loved every second of it, and I thought WOW this is definitely for me. But then in October, I made a bad move. I started stretching with my butt up against the wall and letting gravity do the work for me on my legs while i watch tv. Problem is, I didnt warm up and I didn't have proper form (eg my feet werent pointing upwards etc). Now I have a terrible groin injury thats been haunting me since then. It's pretty painful to do a roundhouse kick on my left side, although on my right side its fairly fine. Ok, so what I'm wondering is how do you recover from that? I took a break in july for a month, and still no pain relief from that. I can definitely feel the stretch in that area when I go into a shiko dachi, and so every night for a while I've been doing the stretch where you go into that stance and press lightly on your knees with you elbows until you feel a stretch. No dice so far. Do compressions shorts work well in martial arts? How about the stretching, should I continue doing it? I asked the doctor and he just said light stretching should do the trick but I haven't seen any improvement yet. Thanks a lot guys, Trevor
