try to relax ur shoulders when ur on-guard and even when you punch only let ur triceps work.. your shoulders should be relaxed. Note that if you dont relax ur shoulders, neck and all muscles that are not invovled in a punch... The same used to happen to me until i started doing punches slowly to observe which muscles actually drive the punch.. g'luck

Unfortunately masters here do not actually teach.. they use their names for marketing only, but the actual master with the 7 or 8 dans never shows up.. who teaches are confused blackbelts... until ur confused at their level...

pray mantis

whether u like mantis or dont i believe u should start with some mantis training. the balance given by the diverse stable stances of mantis boxing or the seven star praying mantis fist style are very important. The idea of mantis is basically yin-yang. ur backing off when ur oponent hits, ur using his energy to hit him, or make him fall but spending the least amount of energy. example is a fist coming to your face you deflect it and hook the fist with a mantis hook and then BOOM, u hit. The idea of it is to make ur body like a pyramid. you have the center of balance really low so you can lift the biggest guy easily, and no one can move you. Drawbacks, for me, is that the kicks are really low. You're usually targetting sensitive areas such as the groins in your kicks. the rest of the kicks we practice are only to stretch your hamstrings! and what i was talking about is the 7 star praying mantis coming from northern shaolin. http://www.authentickungfu.com/mantis_directory.html good luck -

i've had a TKD master that taught me 3 times a week.. every time i went it was as if im going to a totally different class for a different style... teach both in two different days.. makes it more itneresting, i think!

i think u did the right thing whether the school is mad at u for losing the kid or not that's a question u have to ask them. the way you acted is what i like to see in a MA teacher, rather than taking it easy on students which will let them learn that they can do whatever they want and lose respect to MAs and the school props to you

it depends whether it's old metallica music, or it's classic... but i'd say NO.. no! usually masters talk during practice, they correct you and they communicate, which is a very important thing to do during practice, and they like to make the students shout as loud as possible and while there's not background noise at all... my two cents
