Yellow Belt

Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. you made me stick my middle finger up my nose
  2. I agree with straycat because I can relate. At my school they promote students every 2 months and never fail students. It costs 120 dollars a month to attend the school. On belt test days, three out of every 4 students wont even know the questions that they are required to know (which is generally only a single question like how to say thank you in korean) I trained 4 hours a day from 10th gup to 6th Gup, and 10 hours a day on saturdays and about 5 on sundays, all my friends thought I was crazy, and havent had time enough to train more than 2 hours a day for the past 4 months. I am a 4th Gup now and I am much better than most of the Black belts. On fridays we have sparring and I spar with up to 2nd Dan and I win 4 out of every 5 matches, against mostly black belts. I see 2nd dans who have no respect and never train at home and dont like karate but their parents make them go. What really caused me to think back on this post and write is recently the teacher asked everyone basic questions. He asked another 4th gup, "what is the name of the art that we study," and the brown belt said TKD when we really study Tang Soo Do. He asked similar questions, nobody knew the student creed or anything. Also a 2nd Dan adult took me aside to teach me forms once and on the Peace and Confedence forms 1-5 (Pyung ahn cho dan-pyung ahn o dan) he didnt even know the names of the forms and taught me how to do them wrong. Nobody has ever failed a belt test and the belt tests are always 2 months apart, to me it seems kind of like its just paying them 275 dollars (120x2+35 dollar test fee) and waiting 2 months. Our school is attempting to change their system and at least start failing students by february however. Also at least most of the instructors know that belt ranks dont matter much.
  3. I take TSD which is kind of like TKD, my favorite move for show is a windmill kick (jump spinning outside to inside kick) do they have those in TKD? and for effectiveness my favorite is an axe kick
  4. When I stretch the side of my right leg I can only get so far before it starts hurting bad (not the pain that you feel when your stretching, more of a pain that feels like if I go any further my muscle is going to tear.) This has happened since I started doing karate and I still can barely touch the floor with my hands when I do a split. All of my other muscles are flexible, I won a gold medal in a tournament for an 8'1" jump front kick, but I can barely kick to my solar plexes when I side kick. I am 15 years old, so I think I am a bit too young for it to be anything serious. Should I try to stretch through the knot that I feel when I am stretching? Has anybody had anything similar to this?
  5. I will be 4th Gup in 2 days. I am learning forms from a forms video, I know the first 11 so far (kicho forms, pyung forms, passai so and the first staff form). Starting yesterday, my instructor has been allowing me to go to a more advanced class with mainly cho dan bo and up, and I am the lowest belt rank in the class by 2 belt ranks. I went to that class today and yesterday, and both days we used the same forms, and I dont know either of them. We used Passai Dae and Jin Do. I have Passai Dai on my videotape, but it is too fast for me to keep up with. I am buying a DVD with Jin Do on it, but all that the DVD has is somebody performing the form and it is hard for me to learn forms without knowing the movements of the forms. Could somebody please list the movements in the Passai Dae form and the Jin Do form for me please? Thank You, Mark Snedaker
  6. best joke ive read all month
  7. thats why in my dojang (tang soo do dojo) our partners have to step back when it is our turn
  8. Start singing "Right foot left stomp" "Left foot left stomp" (forgot what the dance is called) and dancing to it while sparring lol
  9. Hey, I spent all day (14 hours) every day for a week doing kata! guilty of sweeping front porch with bo techniques as well. Most of my furniture is too hard to kick so I bought a punching bag.
  10. lol, when you go through withdrawals after running out of injuries
  11. It was an accident, I think I forgot to say that. I also forgot to say that the CD case was one of those see through computer CD cases that shatter. Anyways, I was a white belt back then and I had a MESSY room. I set it on a shelf leaning against some books pushed back on the shelf trying to get it exactly where my solar plexus would be. I was punching air and lining my punches up with it, and I accedentally came forward a bit too far. Keep in mind, I was a white belt.(I know, thats why this is called "MA goofs and blunders right?")
  12. I got BOTH of my sisters at the same time with every single one of them lol. I liked the aluminum can one the best
  13. I have some freak ants that come in my house at summertime. They see everything and anything as food, including humans. Just 6 days ago I had about 30 on me while I was sleeping. I live in a log house, so it isnt hard for an ant to get in.
  14. never call the instructer by his or her first name
