dont whige!! ...it takes an abslute minimum of 14 years to get our black belts!!! ill be 73 by the time i get mine!! yeah ur club sounds dodgy! we all get on really well at our club.....there is that respect payed both weays in our club...too student and sensai! pushups suk...but haha ive only done 15 in like 4 years... we only get them if we talk heaps !! for me thats always though!!

i was taught by a 5th dan in combined martial arts.....(thats 25 years to get that!!!) but coz of all different reasons he has to leave and change states.......instead his only black belt student took over the classes... he can teach us the stuff we need to know well, for gradings etc ...but the only prob is he doesnt have much experience like the previous instructor....so when it comes to steet situations, competition training etc it doesnt pay aswell! but if u have experience yeah it wouldnt matter to much!! i'll join!! haha

yeah i understand...i just wanted to have a go at someone and u seemed like the one!! hahaha ....sorrry!!! yeah the style ur taking up sounds good!!..thats saught of what i do...mine is like kyosushin and gracie bjj!! its lotsa fun!! -
im with u spinninggumby all the way!!! karate isnt some secret shaolin past time...it is becoming a sport in recent times!! why not use the olympics as a means of "advertising" karate!!! there are disadvantages for sure!!! but still the advantages out way it!!
-
GO THE BOUNCE!!!! i reckon the bounce is great....and if u do this while staring into their eyes it is a big intimidator!!! the bounce (is performed well)..can "hide" ur attack!!....it means that the lunge off ur back foot isnt as obvious!! if it is point sparring it doesnt actually waste much energy at all...and it gets u psyched up in tournament!!! : .....u can do both in the one figh aswell...thats always fun!!

yeah totally agree with u pacificshore..... u see the litttle unexperience kiddies who go against another proud little guy.. and in an arm bar it ends with a loud "snap"!! hahah tell u what being a girl in grappling is too funny i think i have nearly killed more guys than recieved tapouts coz u guys are all to proud to be tapped out by a girl  macho punks!!! -
ive been doing combined martial arts for four years: it consists of: karate (mainly kyokushin) boxing kung fu brazilian jiu jitsu (gracie) and tae kwon do im blue belt in it...though i havent graded in kyosushin, bjj alike.

Won't tap
bjjbarbie replied to three60roundhouse's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
sorry guys i disagree with what most of u have to say the reason being the kid is only 13!!! in a tournament with safe, proper conditions/refs yeah sure send him into a deep sleep...but at tournament u see all these kids burst into tears coz they dont want to tap!!! talk about alot of snapped elbows!! if it is in training on the other hand....who cares the guy knows uve nailed him!!!! then again i guess it really isnt ur prob!! (had a slight change of mind!! hehe) ..u gotta say though u hate that one in a million chance that the kid had a heartc ondition and u killed the little tacker!!! -

Ju-Jitsu ????
bjjbarbie replied to G95champ's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
i have been doing bjj ...and though pressure points were not essentila they did add a different edge to the sport!!! our sensai was also a acupuncturist so i dont know if it is a common practise....we did however use some finger locks while in any situation aswell as getting out of someones guard useing 'spleen 10' which u all shoul know is the pressure point on the inside of ur leg just above ur knee!!! there were a few otheres but that was the extent of ours!! as i was saying our sensai also was an acupuncturist so he new the multiple pp and passed them onto us....so for other dojos im not to sure.... just to add...i have been in just a few bjj tournament and know other people from other clubs have used any.....but they may just have been circumstantial!!! well nighy night....hope this helps!! -
UFC, TKD vs Jiu-Jitsu
bjjbarbie replied to TKD_McGee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
many of u tkd'ist are showing heaps of ignorance towards bjj!!!.....just remember that rules apply to bjj tournament aswell. in class u may have learnt the crushing blow of an axe kick...but of course...in many tournamnt this move is banned!!!! and yes in bjj tournament street tacktics like eye gauges and groin grabs are banned...though in training this is an essential focus to ones learning!!!! bjj is very much a street fighting methos as remember 95% OF FIGHTS END UP ON THE GROUND AT ONE POINT IN TIME!!! so therefor do u think a teacher would not cover these essential targets in class!!! USE UR BRAIN FELLAS!!!!!!! -
UFC, TKD vs Jiu-Jitsu
bjjbarbie replied to TKD_McGee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
no offense taikudo-ka but obviously u havent had much experience against a grappler!!! i do both karate and bjj and yeah i do agree that the bjj'ist will take them down every time......just remeber it isnt a rugby league mtach!!...u dont go in like a tackle without using ur head!!! also grapplers do know what to expect of their opponents...and many or even most have a little or enough knowledge of stand up fighting!!!! wax on fellas! -
im a 17 year old chicka dee!!.....so yeah i havent experience the old pub slut fights!! : ) im sure i could manage myself.but i do agree that yeah it is hard to judge a person skill coz u turn up at tournaments and here are 6 year old kids with 2nd dan black belt!! ?? whats the go!! it seems like karate is very much turning into an advertising campaign : ("join here and get ur black belt in 12 months!!!) what a joke hey??????? :down:here i am training for 4 years and coz im in a very difficult style im upto blue belt and yet (not bragging) im aussie champ in point sparring and yet i got knocked out first round in every single contiuos bout i have been in!! so yeah i agree with u ....street fighting is very much the real test....as belts are becoming seemingly a joke really!!!

though they are very similar, trying to compare point sparring to continuous is like comparing a 100m sprint to a 800m run. they are both running both are both totally different. I do combined martial arts; therefore i have done both karate (continuous/kumite) and i also do grappling.....and i could argue pros and cons for each of them! u of all seem to be arguing a different point.....!!??!! yes u can get adrenelin in point sparring: yes u can get extremely injured in point sparrig: yes u are an athlete if u do it (hey!, they call sumo's athletes dont they!!) it totally depends on what u want to get out of kumite: personally i just think it is alot of fun....if u dont like it...dont do it....but dont critizize it... alot of the kickboxers criticise it.... but having done kickboxing for three years along with bjj grappling i could argue the point that yes u may have stamina but a grappler would take u done any day of the week!! if u enjoy it.....do it!!! all the styles have their own advantages ...so take them n have fun peoplzzzzz!!!

Point Sparring Tips?
bjjbarbie replied to Kai_Jecht's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
as much as i love point sparring tournaments...they have really turned into "who can execute the quickest reverse puch!!" : alot of it also depends on the level of contact 'n rules of the tournament aswell! oh well happy sparring!!
