  1. I'm really enjoying Ryu Te, its got quite a few joint locks and all the weapons you can handle, chizikunbo, tanbo, tonfa, nunchaku, kama, jo, bo, nunte bo, eku, sai, and manji sai(I actually think theres more but Im not sure, IM pretty new still) . If you can find a school where your going I'd suggest checking one out.
  2. I actually just saw Kingdom of Heaven Director's cut and I'd like tot hrow this one in there as well Balian vs Guy, was not shown in the original but made it to the directors cut. Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCyqJMSIKY8
  3. I hope Couture wins, I dislike Lesnar and the last thing I want is a fight that will make him a legit contender which IMO he is a long way from.
  4. First off, my son is also named Ethan! *High five* lol He just turned 6 months old =) Back on topic: I would let him try, also like Bushido_man said use it as a tool, if he acts up no training. Though I really think how you described him he has alot of energy and probably needs an outlet so this IMO would be great for him. It should also help with the roughhousing. Also another fun activity for him would be swimming(enrolling him in lessons etc), gets alot of energy out as well, plus its good exercise that will wear him out a bit.
  5. Probably the fight between Chen Zhen(Jet Li) and Funakochi Fumio(dont know the guys name) in Fist of Legend, amazing fight scene, the next would be the last fight in The Prodigal Son Leung Jan vs Ngai Fai (Jet Li fight) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HrTDMXkQfY (Prodigal Son) Not to get too far off topic but has anyone seen the trailor for the new Ip Man movie? I have a feeling some of those scenes are gonna end up in the thread
  6. Sweet, I want to see Stark build the Hulkbuster
  7. Thanks! I hope so, it would be cool to meet Taika Oyata
  8. Just brought this back to say I started studying with TexasMike after having a couple of meetings and I must say I really like Ryu Te. It seems to me very straight forward in theres no movements wasted. I had 2 meetings and sat in on 2 classes with TexasMike and felt we were on the same page about self defense or as he and Taika Oyata put it Life Protection, looking forward to learning alot more. Since I just started its all basics right now, practicing good form and keeping a solid stance. I must admit I didnt feel it the day I started but the next day I felt a slight twinge of soreness, its great to be back in training at a school again

I just learned so much from you joesteph
  10. I really loved Iron Man, Ive been a big fan of the comics and character for a long time. Im curious though how they'll approach Thor, Im interested in seeing how that looks.
  11. I just keep things simple, as Ive always said on this kind of subject: Its not what you train its how you train. Your training should prepare you for as much as humanly possible and it should also teach you how to dictate the fight and where you want it to go. If your a grappler your school should teach you how to get yoru opponent where you want them and if your a striker you should be able to maintain the distance for optimal power/technique etc. Train how you would fight in the real world and yes I believe any style could hold thier own in a real life situtation.
  12. Ive seen some vids online awhile back and the guy can do a tight guard when he's boxing and he really does have a sick clinch if he would just use it. And like Adonis said he has great wrestling ability and he's (think) a purple belt in BJJ. He just seems far to concerned with throwing his big hook and KOing someone for his highlight reel. He has all the tools to completely change up his gameplan, will he do it though? Guess time will tell...
  13. Do you mean wrestling style takedowns, judo style throws, or some that are good for jiu jitsu competition? I'd be happy to get some more on there. As it is if you follow the link below, you'll see three very basic takedowns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDJraM4ARNg If you're looking for others, let me know. Any kind of takedowns, I guess wrestling takedowns are more prevalent then a judo throw but really any takedown that is used regularly Great video though, you explain it very well
  14. Edit: Nevermind! Didnt go a page back lol Glad to hear she's doing well
