  1. Anyone ever had a gi done by them?
  2. stainless steel is better i guess. the only difference i can tell is that the stainless doesnt chip because it isn't just plated.
  3. Kusanku was on his list Sauzin, Kosokun is another name for it, just like Kanku and Kushanku.
  4. Congrats, that's quite impressive. What an honor to be graded under those excelent karate-ka. Usually I think, it is much more difficult to grade at the brownbelt level. I remember my 6th, 5th, and 4th kyu were surprisingly easy, but my 3rd kyu test lasted around 6 hours and was very extensive. It cooled down around 2nd kyu, and 1st kyu still wasn't as hard as my 3rd kyu test. I'm sure my shodan test will be much more difficult.
  5. California. It's a theme park, but for halloween they have monsters walking around at night.
  6. Better quality material, thicker (depth and width), and definitely higher quality embroidery.
  7. About three years to get to iikyu right now, my shodan test is on December 3rd.
  8. Unfortunatly I am not looking to purchase kamikaze goods, but shureido ones.
  9. 28 views and no replies? C'mon guys!
  10. Hello, I'm a 15 year old currently enrolled as a sophomore in highschool. I decided last year to this year take English II Honors and as part of the summer work we were required to take part in a local writing contest, and I figured I'd take a stab at the poetry section. I was wondering if any of the more artfully inclined members could give this a quick read and your opinions. ---- It's a poem which kind of describes my feelings towards my parents. Their entire lives are spent working, always at their jobs, always working overtime, and even when they're at home they work themselves dry and sometimes I just wish they would settle down and rest. Thanks.
  11. http://kamikazeweb.com Anyone used this site? How about for Shureido purchases?
  12. Would you recomend the tournament cut over the regular? Also, personal prefrence aside, would you recomend the medium or the heavy belt?
  13. I have two questions. The first one is concerning the Tournament K-10 gi (TK-10). Does the label on this specify Tournament or is it the standard Shureido label (http://karate-shop.ru/images/picture/shu_tou_big.jpg)? The next question concerns belts. Shureido carries it's light, medium, and super blackbelt if I am correct. I own a Shureido colored belt right now and I am under the impression that the light type black belt is the same. I am not sure about the medium and heavy. Is either wider? I know they're thicker, but what's the difference, primarily the width. Thanks, Matt
  14. The name embroidery is almost always placed above the label on the lapel of your gi, black for white gi and yellow for black. I've sometimes seen red for a white gi and white for a black gi.

    Favorite Kata

My two favourite open hand forms are Naihanchi Shodan and Seisan, both the Okinawa Kenpo variations as taught by Hanshi Maehara. My absolute favourite kobudo kata is Toma no Kama.
  16. If you're going for cheapness with quality, get a middleweight Century, or possibly a middle/heavy Proforce, both are good quality at a low price. If you want a middleweight with a bit more umph, go for a Shureido middleweight, I own one and it's the best gi I've ever worn, but it ran me about 160 USD.
  17. Actually, with Shureido you aren't paying for the brand, you pay about 100 dollars in shipping fees by the time it finally reaches you. Shureido gi aren't that expensive at all if you're in Okinawa.
  18. I am looking for an embroidered patch with kanji reading "Okinawa Kenpo." Does anyone have any idea where I might find this, or where I may have it made? Edit: This is what I am looking for. http://www.okinawakenpo.com/faq/okikenpo.gif
