Do you like to spar? do you love to hear the words "pads on!" or do you dred them with a pasion?

 

i remember when i first joined TKD that i hated hearing the instructor shout those words. but now im getting better and getting less beaten im starting to enjoy it alot more. ive been trying out twisting kicks resently, they work like a charm. and also jumping from punch, you go in for a fake then jump to side of them and get a nice clear shot to there temple.

 

what is everyones favourite sparring moves also? anything youve been trying out resently?

in theory you can get your BB in ITF TKD in 3 years, but this is only if you grade at every possible chance and have the minium time at each belt grade.

yeh thats understandable, but dont u think there is soemthing to be said for no EQ sparring? you learn how it feels to be hit and punched, and beleive me when i say you have to be good with those blocks!

 

in some ways i do agree with, u can learn alot from sparring with EQ. one day you will need to expirience being punched without gloves.

do u ever meet up with a friend from your dojo/dojang and spar? no pads?

 

i did this today with my friend alex from TKD (he is the junior great britian light weight champion) i just bumped into him in the park and we decided to spar and i got my butt wooped. i now have several impressive cuts and bruices including a cut lip and a bump on my outer forarm.

 

but twas all in good fun!

if we couldnt go to the ground then id go for the throw leaving me on my feet and him on the floor in pain. (but thats only using my ju jitsu skill and not my striking)

sounds good, i wouldnt get to wrapped up in the whole belt thing. after all it is just a way of seeing progress. go have a look and decide on the teaching not on things like the ranking system.

some people are saying aikido, fair enough i can see where your coming from; not much strangth needed etc. but i dont think someone in that kind of postion should be doin ukemi (falling).

 

in my opinion tai chi would be a better choice.

As some people may have noticed i havnt been around much lately. i will be around even less now. mostly for the same reasons as Kensai and Tobias.

 

I hope you have enjoyed my contribution to this site. i have surely enjoyed being around. i may be back, i may not be back.

i recon 2-3 times a week is great, i wish i could train in TKD more.

one of my bros mates was sent to the front line from england.
