really? good friend uve got there by the way lol. if nothing else though it will give u a moment of opportunity you can use to leave or finish it. and then theyre watching ur leg..and well if theyre not trained u should be done with it pretty quick. was it right in the cluster of nerves? interesting post thanks muaythaiboxer

we all would love to drop the 3 then drop the other 2. but if uve got those 3..and they surround u..assuming ur not smart enough to run like he...the wind lol..their 2 other buddies can join in. now im confident in my skills, but 5 guys well theyd jus beat me to the ground. im no bruce lee..and they dont come in at 1 at a time for me to attack lol. honestly if u were stuck and couldnt get out i would look around for a handy weapon. anything hanging around that was loose and heavy. pipe tree branch w.e u had. u never know.

good posts you all. if say it is a school fight..not that you need be in one and are afraid of breaking a knee and getting sued..might i suggest a kick to the shin. a nice hard kick in the shin..esp in the middle where the cluster of nerves are (feel free to correct me if im wrong) will hurt a ton and most likely end it since ur opponent is going to be hopping on 1 leg. and if they are that persistent..u can fake that kick to the shin they will react and you have a whole new opening. jus somethin to keep in mind

time to step in. jump kicks are great! I am very tired of seeing hey this does not work this is crap focus on real moves. sick of it, truly sick. jump kicks are amazing..and when used PROPERLY extremely effective. I think most people dismiss them as mere pretty moves because they don't incorporate them into sparring at the right times. Of course you dont lead with a jump kick! no! for examle, say someone you are sparring is very linear and has been leading with a series of kicks uve been avoiding by blocking and shifting back. a round kick is coming, you block it while at the same time turning into the ready stance for a jump back kick/jump into out/jump spinning kick. if they are dumb enough to follow with any movement a turning jump kick is a great counter. if you are using jump kicks they are great as the 3rd or 4th movement in a combination. also, be able to deliver a full jumpkick from a standing position. ie you are in sparring stance and can go vertical and give a jump roundhouse with the back leg. if you need a running start, it really probably isnt your best bet. if you need to run to do it, either practice or jus run like hell

out of curiosity, are you in high school or college? I wish my HS had a varsity martial arts team. If you are friends with any of the TKD team members or know any decent TKD people, I would suggest sparring with them. BEFORE you try out. every style has strengths and weaknesses. you've got to pick up on these yourself. I'm not familiar with your style of karate so I cant offer any specific advice..but see if the TKD people are very linear fighters. If they are, I highly suggest when they come at u to side step(going to the side of your leading leg of course) and stepping into a sidekick, jump sidekick, or if you are really that quick even a punch. try it out and good luck

hey triddle, what are ur favorite techno songs? im not a big fan of it, but i def agree that techno and rave music get ur blood going. for workout music i prefer rap/hard rock. i like D12 fight music, cassidy im a hustla, linkin park jay z - numb/encore, and the soundtracks from Kiss of the Dragon with jet li and Blade Trinity. trinity has a ton of great fighting songs on it. enjoy

you cant wait tables. almost every restaurant requires you to be 18. believe me i know. im almost 18. yes, i also used to buss tables. i agree it sucks. it seems like a decent work environment then u realize ur surrounded by idiots and a chain of incompetent managers. i quit that job to work with a catering company. the reality is the restaurants can screw u and u quit. then, another kid takes ur place gets screwed and quit. but because we're young theres always another kid who can take our place. so it doesnt matter to the managers. target publix kroger are all possibilities. try literally picking up a phone book and looking through the yellow pages. thats how i got my current job lol. many places will turn u away due to age and lack of experience. but dont be discouraged. keep a list of places u call reasons u were accepted/rejected and ur opinions. u can use it when ur older as well. its hard man but keep lookin.

hmm i would say my turning jump back kick and jump roundhouse kick from a vert. position kicking with back leg would be 2 of my best. ground kick would be in-to-out kick. i believe TKD calls it a crescent kick? -
SBD is a great art. I'm a 2nd Dan in it, and have trained in it for 8-9 years. I started when i was 5. When i was almost 15, i moved to ATL and stopped training in the MA. I focused more on HS sports. Now, I am getting back into the MA world and I really do love it. Im not sure if SBD is the right style for me any more, but there are certainly a TON of great aspects to it. The only complaint I really have about SBD would be the lack of focus on grappling techniques. I feel that on the ground I would be quite inferior (thats why I dont plan on going there ). capoeira is flat out amazing to watch. ive done SBD MDK for about 9 years, and i did 1 capoeira class since i was interested. much respect to the players, and the footwork is wonderful. very graceful too. the only reason i decided not to do capoeira is that it isnt so much of a CMA. if ur out of shape, no doubt cap. will help u get in better condition. if nothing else, always watch a new style. never know what you'll learn

lmao Kieran-Lilith. i used to buss tables at tx roadhouse..before i quit and got a better job. i know man i feel ya when all the dishes stack up in the kitchen. and then ur behind on glasses too. annoying eh? lets see as far as bowing goes..i love when its like a national tournament or dan test. and every1 stays in the same hotel. people bowing in hallways in the elevator in the bathroom everywhere.

purely for my own enjoyment Zero. jump kicks are great in sparring...but not as openers..say as the 3rd movement in a combination..or when properly set up they are devastating. but pretty much cuz i jus love it. i've got a great vertical jump (ex bbal player lol) and love what you can do in the air.

First off, thanks for taking the time to read this. I trained in Soo Bahk Do MDK for about 8 or 9 years..then moved. I got away from the martial arts and focused more on HS sports. Now, I'm about to be a senior in HS, intend to play Varsity Lacrosse 2nd semester, but I am also very committed to returning to the martial arts world. I definitely miss the training. I'm trying to decide whether to return to MDK or seek out Tae Kwon Do or a different style altogether. I would love to hear everyone's opinions on the best kicking and jump kicking martial arts. Also, a little gymnastics as well in combination with other techniques would be very interesting..even though I have no idea what art that would be. However, my main focus is on aerial techniques. hey, i am currently searching for a new martial arts style and would love people's input. i trained in Soo Bahk Do (moo duk kwan) for about 8 or 9 years. im 17, 6'1 192. prob 1 of my greatest strenghts would be kicking/jump kicks. i havent trained seriously in about 4 years, ive been playin sports for HS instead. im looking for a very hard martial art that has a fair amount of competitiveness (is that even a word?) in it. thank u kyle

so many good stories. i think 1 of the best was from my old studio before i moved...i was only like maybe 10 or 11. i had a friend in there who was a year or 2 older than me. he was showing off before class..did a running jump double front kick (ive named it wrong i know..basically 2 front kicks in the air at the same time..like a split but with a kick). needless to say its a ton of fun. however, i never heard his kaia. all i heard was an incredibly loud uh...ripping sound. he went and stood in the corner for a while. of course, to be a good friend i HAD to go ask gee buddy what happened? apparently i had bad timing lol

hey man. i think we all feel ya on the food and problems like that. remember, there is one important aspect of EVERY diet. and that is for u to cheat. yes, cheat. take 1 day out of ur week..that day u go get ur pizza or burger. now dont sit on ur * all day and jus go thru bags of chips lol allow urself a meal of wat u really want. why? because no one can follow the strictest diets perfectly without becoming really pissed off! and pissed off dieters are no fun to be around. so take a day out, eat what ur craving, and keep working hard. also, make sure u distinguish between hunger and boredom. ur watching tv..but ur not rly that hungry. yet u end up with a turkey and cheese sandwhich grilled in the oven with olive oil and some chips (sounds good doesnt it? it was my lunch lol). make sure u are really hungry before you eat and not just bored. good luck man. and u seemed to have picked up an admirer in kickchick there lol

excellent post Aodhan. im 6'1 192..and i jus cut back from 203. ur a big brawler eh? it really depends on your body build and what your goal is. i mean, if ur mainly flab then u need to lose it. on the other hand, if ur say like an O line man or a center...then it might not be so bad. take a look at wat u want to end up with and why..and then strive for that. jus set goals and ull get it done man

well first off, i love ladies. now, when i find a chick that does martial arts as well, thats just sexy. same thing i think if ur an athlete (i play lacrosse) and other athletic chicks are sexy to me (not the 1s on steroids in the olympics who lift more weight than 3 grown men put together though). i think martial arts or athletic girls are sexy beause they obviously care about their body since fitness is key to any sport or art. personality is obviously important, but to me i like girls who are in good shape. -

im guessing ur pain is in the lower back? iv done a lot of weight training lol and i feel you completely man. now, what are your goals in this workout? its a little unorthodox but ur making do with what u have..and ive been there many a time (still am rly lol). now i imagine those pushups dont feel too good with the weight on ur back. its an awesome idea..but give me ur sets and reps of it. u dont need any weights to become bigger and stronger. GASP owch oh no i said it. they are certainly beneficial, no doubt. but ud be surprised at what u can do with different types of pushups. normal, wide, close, diamond, hands facing in, hands out, etc. u will build ur pecs and arms up quite nicely doing this. also, if ur doing this workout my biggest advice is find a mirror!!!! i did pushups in sets of 50..and then i saw my form in a mirror and realized it was horrendous and corrected it. now the sets of 50 look much better lol. watch ur squats in the mirror..squat form is very important. i would guess ur pain comes from improper form in the squats. possibly the bookbag of weight on ur back as well lol for pushups. and for curls, check this out. u use ur back even when sitting there ur tensing it no doubt. try standing up against a wall, tryin to flattern urself to the wall. then do the curls. see if u feel a difference, and a minus in back pain! also get some1 to watch ur squats as well that knows more about form, or check some forms out online. with good martial arts background though, ull have no trouble getting it down. hope this helps man
