Outstanding KC. I agree with all except close to the end it says-.."Women were much prettier",---Nahhhh, you could just complement an attractive female in the old days without worrying about sexual harrassment or being politically correct!

*&%$#@++"&*!!!-I saw the promo for Red Skies & then forgot to watch it! ....Ahhh-they'll probably run it again in a night or two... What is the newest Jet Li flick coming out?....."Hero" or "The Hero"....?..something like that I think..?.. -

OK----Jack..I have been checking your post & you know your wasting your time here playing on Daddy's PC, isn't it time for your nap?......................... -
KI Master-sorry Dude--I don't think the intent here was to "Attack" your post.....just expressing our opinions. Don't take offense, I- personally just find things of this nature difficult to believe......I also don't believe in ghost, curses, voodoo, bigfoot,UFO's,honest politicians, or that Rogaine will ever give me a full head of hair.....call me a skeptic, just expressing MY OWN OPINION-no offense intended.

KI Master-The thread was started by Radok-chill out Bro!-"What ki technique have any of you mastered?" My answer is none. In my own opinion Ki is the ability to intensely focus your energy. I have seen demo's of MA's jabbing a single finger completely through a un-opened pepsi can in 1 stab;multiple tile, board, ice block breaks. Catching arrows from the air as they are shot from a longbow at the MA,ect....but nothing to convince me of any special "power" or field created outside the body, just many, many hours of practice, years of training & superior concentration. I wouldn't dare say I think you are full of BS when you state you have been training your "Ki" for 2 weeks & are seeing results of making "Ki balls"; or that this Master can levitate.... I have seen David Copperfield vanish from an empty lit stage & walk through walls--but that doesn't mean I believe its physically possible to do so. Just my opinion & experience from 42 yrs, if you can actually do this--cool. I go by the old saying of believe only "Half of what you see- & none of what you hear."

which go together better?
OldRookie replied to rabid hamster's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I'll throw in my 2Cents worth & say Hapkido & TKD also Hiya. I really enjoy my TKD class & couldn't ask for a better instructor--but, I would start Hapkido in a heartbeat given the chance. -
Odd.....eccentric...yep-yep......elderly?...I prefer "experienced" [/i]

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!!!! I heard Tobey Keith this a.m. on Bob & Tom (radio) talking about how that sorry excuse for a newsman Peter Jennings had banned him from the 4th of July special on ABC because lyricks of his song about 9-11-01 were too "Angry".....What a steaming pile of monkey #$^&*+"!!! Should we not be angry?!!!!!.......I won't even tie up the board with all the expletives about how I feel about this.....I could on & on..GOD BLESS AMERICA!! _________________ --Back in the Dojang! Take it slow, stretch, & Ibuprofen (or ketoprofen-slightly easier on the stomach). I just started back in TKD Feb. after completely being away from MA for over 20yrs/I'm 42 now. I too have hip pain at times & just try to work through it.

Jack-we do the same at my school with self defense techniques. It really helps & shows how quickly you can react & if you have learned the tech's. We all stand in a circle with eyes closed & one is picked to slip around in stealth mode & atttack you from the front, back, side whatever & you have to apply what you have been taught. I am sure to the average non-MA it sounds silly but I find it quite effective .

"Project a belch ten feet in the open air and cause a man to faint."LOL....I gotta try that at my next sparring class..I'll just have a sardine, onion & anchovie samich' & don't brush my choppers for a week! Yeah-bring'em on!

should you be relaxed?
OldRookie replied to rabid hamster's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
-Yep,stay relaxed. I read an article on this at a website by a physics Prof. that said when you are relaxed & strike, you tense at the moment of impact & it has the effect of a whip cracking. Loose, fluid & then the snap at the very end. -
No such luck here.....we have fencing @ the local college but no Kendo. It wouldn't help with any real world self defense of course; (maybe the added discipline would help..?) but I think it would be fun.

I have lifted weights & been into non-competitive bodybuilding since age 17. Now that I started back into martial arts this year I have dropped all but a few basics in my weight training. Speaking just for myself-I like the slimmer me.....I have lost muscle mass of course but-I will sacrifice my years of bulking & sweating in the gym if it will help my speed & endurance in TKD _________________ --Back in the Dojang! I would really love to have a katana sitting on my mantle over the fireplace. Why?.....because I can! Don't think the little woman would appreciate my decorating touch though.... I have plenty of firearms & am an avid bowhunter also, but- a sword has always had a bit of mysterious fascination about it. Ahh edged weapons, can't you feel the testosterone level rise when you just hold one?!!

My left leg is bigtime slow so like KickChick,I try to train my left more than right. My R leg is a Georgia mule but my L hits with all the force of sand flea....{{{sigh.....}}} _________________ --Back in the Dojang! I am curious about Tai Chi if it has any value in self defense or just more for relaxation/focusing/stress relief ?.... Read an article about a school for Tai Chi where the beginners start with slow movements (that we are used to seeing on Tylenol commercials..),and more advanced students train faster & even use swords??!! Excuse my ignorance on this as I have read it IS an actual Martial Art;I just wanted feedback from practicioners.

Jet Li
OldRookie replied to Ahazmaksya's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I myself think that his flicks just keep getting better-but; "Fist of Legend" is still my favorite. KOD was pretty good & the end fight scene between the 2 Jets in The One was pretty awsome, even with the wire work. The final fight between the good N evil Jet in slo-mo with the sparks raining down from the machinery was cool! Anyone know where I can pick up a DVD of FOL?...all I can find is "The legend 2"."Red Dragon" & of course his numerous "Once upon a time in..."series (I 'll check Amazon-they usually have everything) -
