  1. ("What i ment is TKD connot survive in a full contact environment , thats why we don't c TKD guys succefully competing in k-1 or UFC .") I have No Idea where you got that info. lets all agree that 99.9% of ufc is jujitsu and BJJ, there is very little karate as there is very little TKDin the ufc, even kickboxing is low in the ufc. I have done full contact for 6 years in Taekwondo you just have to go to the right places. Andrew
  2. I do Tae Kwon Do and we do VERY LITTLE aerial kicks, we only do them for show, but when he just wants us to kick high at the head for practice , because if a person can put a lot of power at a high point which is difficult, then you can double that power when you go lower like in the chest or abdomen, which where the self-defense part comes in. when it comes to Jump kicks we to NONE.
  3. I was making an observation and a question.. sorry I should have made it look like a question but my question was that is all Thai boxing tough and also, I have to say this... I have seen people break baseball bats with there SHINS, now that is crazy, have you guys ever done that?
  4. I have heard that Thai boxing can actually get rough, when it comes to the teaching of it, my dad did it and he said it was taught by Dr. Green one of the toughest and most attitude Thai boxers there is. I do Taekwondo my self I like it but I can admit its not a brutal as Thai Boxing. but I like it thanks, Andrew
  5. Flashy stuff is not good anywhere not in a tournament, or in a street fight, I do Taekwondo so there is a lot of kicks, but my instructor teaches us to kick high for a reason, he says if you can kick high with a lot of power to the head, then you can double that foot power when you do it lower like the chest, abdomen etc..
  6. its mostly for show, BUT, I have seen somebody break 7 normal, (not gimicked) bricks and break every single one of them.. a 12x12x1 inch pine board symbolizes a rib so if you can break the board you can break a rib or two, or three or so... andrew
  7. you have to remember something, its a "street fight" anything goes! I know of a few guy who told me they have used there tkd skills on people. example- I guy I know was getting picked on an all he did was step back the other guy pulled back his fist and he came at him he side stepped and and reverse punch to the face, then he back leg side kicked him , injury to the bully- two broken ribs. if your fast enought on your feet you can do it!! andrew

  11. I do Hapkido and the difference is that they are both self-defense hapkido has more joint manipulation and more throws wherefore the other has more actual strikes but also has some stuff within Hapkido.
  12. actually Seagal has a 7th dan black belt in Aikido which is made for self-defence not a sport like kickboxing, no one kicks in a real fight! he also has a black belt in karate to, but fyi though.

  14. do you guys know where to find actual street fight video's??? Thanks, Andrew
  15. Yes joint lock is very effective, I do Hapkido which is almost like Aikido, Hapdido has a lot of throws sweeps and joint applications, 99% of actual street fights end up close quarters or on the ground so yes it is... Andrew

  18. this one really gets me, I know body builders who cant brake as many or if even on brick,,, but a black belt or any martial artists can break many that just blows my mind, even wood, its not the softest thing in the world you know how do they do that how can someone like that break a break come on its CEMENT, the reason Im saying this is because I have to break a board or two to get my green belt in TKD... any replys would be great, Andrew
