  1. the lat machine is good, or take gymnastics, or get a weight belt, and hand a 45 from u. you'll eventually get there, u just gotta work at it.

I would say the absolute best thing u could do (based on personal gymnastics experiance) would be to get a peg board.

    http://www.inch-aweigh.com/fitness/pegboards.html

they are great, because u pull yourself up with one arm to each hole. To start, u can push on the wall a little with your feet, but when u get good, u should be able to go up and down 3 times without using ur feet, then u can do 1 handed pull ups :)

  2. hey thanks alot for the posts. I hurt it wednesday, and its still tender, and now it has swollen up. Not as much as say a sprained ankle, but enough that i cant see my tendons, and veins barely. I can walk ok with a shoe. but barefoot, its still limping. im getting it checked by a doctor tomorrow.

Correct me if im wrong, but youre supposed to hit with the cuniform and navicular bones, respectively right? Cause that, and my shin, is always where i aim. i just got unlucky this time when the person stepped back.

About my chest, 2 weeks and still sore, but nothing like a broken rib. I think its just bruised, :-P im fine. I just cant wait to start training again. luckily, if worse comes to worse, i can still ride a bike, ect.

    btw, foot diagram = http://www.podiatrychannel.com/Images/ftbns_tpvw.gif

    :)

  3. I was wondering if anyone here has broken their foot before. I went to kick someone in the head during sparring, and somehow ended up hitting their elbow. I continued class, and then wrapped it, and experience a fair amount of pain, but nothing like a broken ankle or arm. If i press on the 3rd or 4th metatarsals, It is very tender, but i am able to walk still, although with a slight limp. Should i get them xrayed? or if it was fractured would it be much much more painful.

It is also difficult and stiff and semi-painful to lift my last 3 toes.

Also, how easy is it to fracture your breastbone. I was hit with a hard right punch in the chest, i was being careless, and missed the block, Now after a week, it is easier to breath, but whenever i do a big yawning stretch, i sometimes recoil from the pain. Only then tho.

Note, i think my instep may have lost some of its conditioned padding, as i haven't done tkd in about a year and a half. I was doing muay thai and only using shins and knees, and then about 6 months ago, i did knee surgery. About 2 weeks ago, i started tkd again, and i think i was a little overzealous, and forgot that maybe my insteps weren't as hard as they were.

    Anyways, thanx for any help.

  4. muscle can help to strengthen the joints cracking. For elbows try some skull crushers. For knees, I just had knee surgury, and before, it was really cracking, and after surgury, but then i went to physical therapy, and i had to do mad amounts of weighted lunges, deadlifts, leg press, leg curls and leg extensions. Along with lots of time on the bike. Around 6 months later, i dont have nearly as much cracking.
  5. check out these links, they should help you out

For the MMA athlete, discusses strength, and sprints and such:

    For weight training:

Have fun :) and remember not to start too high. (weight or reps.)

I usually go 5 sets of 8 on bench, but u can start with 2 sets of 10. Dont concentrate on biceps, as you will use them for most back exercises, and they will get overtrained.

  6. Im moving to ft myers in july/august, and would like to begin kendo training.

I was thinking about purchasing these items right now so i could practice before i arrive, what do you think of these items? Im not really sure what length shinai to get.

Im 6'2" 175lbs, pretty strong, i lift often, although i just got knee surgery and its still healing.

Here are the items i was thinking about:

    those are the videos

heres a super-heavy bokuto, but is 45" long enough for me?

To tell you the truth, i have no idea what shinai to get :)

    thankyou for the help

  7. Hey guys, i figured someone here would know what to do.

I just got athroscopic knee surgery. They cut out some cartillage. It wasnt that bad, just like 2 weeks off my feet, but in the process i lost almost all of my muscle in my leg.

So now i need to train to get it back. I cant sprint or play basketball or do martial arts till July 5, so im concentrating on riding an exercise bike 5 miles a day (takes 10 minutes on hardest setting) and doing leg curls, leg press and leg extensions, as well as roman chair.

    My questions-

Obviously i can now leg press 1/4 of the weight i used to, i was at 430, not i can do 100. Friday was the first day i was able to bend it far enough to do leg press.

Should i concentrate on more reps? or more sets? or both?

For the bike, is it better to lower the hardness of the bike and ride for a full hour instead of the hardest and for 5 miles/10 minutes?

Also, any good ways to start stretching so i can touch my foot to my butt again? My leg barely bends.

Any other good exercises im missing?

    THANKYOU

  8. just remember, to get a six pack, you cant just do situps, you have to actually lift more than your body weight with your stomach.

Im a guy, and i know you say its different, but i know girls who have 6-packs, and all of them are gymnasts. so join gymnastics,

or take like 20lb leg weights and then do leg lifts on a roman chair machine thing. Then do 10 with your legs together, 10 apart, 20 side to side, then 10 together and 10 apart and then try to hold your legs out infront of you for about a minute. I do this on the rings in gymnastics, and it gave me a really good like 12 pack.

personally, i think its kind of gross when girls have 6-packs though...

  9. hey kensai, isnt kenjutsu basically competition like aikikendo?

why are you doing that as part of aikido training? I thought aikido practicers werent allowed to compete because of Budo?

    Maybe im mistaken?

  10. I like kenshin, but anyways, its not a real weapon, and they even say in the series he went to a sword maker and had it specialy made for him. Noone else has one. One person even steals the sword, and ends up giving it back because they find its worthless.

The only reason he has the sword is because during the revolution, he was a ruthless killer, and during the end he killed his girl friend, and he realized killing was wrong and all that, so to try to repent for all his killings, he now uses a reverse blade sword and vows never to kill again.

its a good series, but it IS just a cartoon, so dont take some of the stuff too seriously :):):):)

  11. Im moving to Ft Myers in July, and so I have been looking for a good dojang down there. I found one that teaches KoAmMuDo, and is taught by

Non Guen Guak, I was wondering if anyone had any information on KoAmMuDo or Master Guak. Its a new art I guess, and i havent been able to find much info on it. Thanx. :)
