Hello. I might be moving to Myrtle Beach soon. Are there any good schools around? I'm looking for bjj, catch wrestling, greco, or I would look into trying kajukenbo, or kenpo, or kyokushin, or something. Thanks.
Spirit At Choice: Ever heard of the Bao Way? I believe thats what its called. Sensei Bao introduced it to us at a Cuong Nhu meeting in Chatanooga: its a series of videos that deals with such subjects. They seemed to be very well-made, with maybe some influence from ju-jitsu.
I appreciate the responses. Well, the pain lasted about a week. I didn't miss much of my training, just a little, and now I feel back to normal almost. Thank God. I would have went to a doctor, but I don't have any insurance. That might be something to look into.
Anybody know about chinese boxing? What is their training like compared to western boxing, their techniques, etc? What should I expect to gain from that if I join? I want to become better with my hands, but realistically, I don't think I have time to train in a regular boxing school.
Hehe, that thought has crossed my mind before: only because I think I know what I personally need to work on(what I consider to be the most important MA aspects). But: I can't teach those things because I haven't studied them. Maybe one day if I train diligently in say, BJJ, boxing, Muay Thai, and wrestling I'll create my own style. But I know that's not going to happen.
Haha, the language thing. An X-block is by crossing your arms, so they form an X. A lower X-block is kinda like 2 lower blocks at the same time. An upper X-block is kinda like 2 upper blocks at the same time. Not completely, but kinda. A thrust kick pushes. You load, then thrust with follow-through. A snap kick is different, like a roundhouse. A thrust kick makes all the force of contact go along your leg. And a sucker punch is just a term to describe a cheap-shot. Like a late hit.
