  1. Osu!!! Through my experience, I believe that karate is karate, we shouldn't talk about the difference in styles....Instead we should appreciate the art of karate.
  2. Thanks guys. It seems like not a lot of karatekas know about this club......it is actually one of the well-respected clubs in Japan. Sure no one knows any more?
  3. This sort of slows you down right Orion?
  4. Does anybody know about Shinkyokushin Karate? Who practices it? I used to practice Shinkyokushin karate, but I was forced to switch. I would like to follow up, so does anyone know any websites?
  5. Yeah, the links are awesome! Thanks
  6. For you guys' info. :The movie "Fearless" is a story about huo yuan jia, the founder of Jing wu.
  7. Kyokushin Karate is more traditional I guess, at least compared to Shinkyokushin karate. BUT I really repect kyokushin philosophy
  8. To wash your belt is to disrespect yourself. Karatekas never wash their belts.
  9. I am a kyokushin karateka as well. I have been praticing it for quite a time. I know there is one uniqueness about "Japanese" Karate clubs-------push-ups are done by fists. Is that what you guys do as well?
  10. Every club has its own order of belt levels....Usually lighter colors represent lower levels, and darker colors represent high levels.
  11. How does Buddhism relate to Martial Arts? The breathing techiques? The philosophy?
  12. My way of kiai is way different
  13. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Karate=sport if it replaces Taikwondo
  14. By the way, Drithen, you are a kyokushin student??????? Hey tell me about your training man, i mean, it is so hard to find kyokushin students around......
  15. My favorite combo: knife kick (leg thrusting down on opponent's leg) and then punch the chest. I like to make combos which change height levels so it will confuse my oppponent.
  16. Combine all you have learned and put it into your combat. I think training your body is essential, since greater endurance means better performance.
  17. Our fates are already determined. When it is time for me to leave, I will anticipate it. There is nothing we can do anyway.....
  18. Well if you are going to Fukuoka, you should visit the Shinkyokushinkai's dojo. The instructors are: 緑 健児/森 健太
  19. When you face a BIG guy, power control is not essential, because it is obvious that the bigger guy is more powerful than you. It important to hold him/her back and to make quick movements.
  20. There are a lot of situations.... you can attack first OR you can wait for an attack. For my experience, I would attack first when i see an obvious opening spot that i could easily strike. I would also attack first when i meet a huge guy. I would wait when my opponent and I have a large distance apart.
  21. It happpens to a lot of people. When you change karate clubs, you have to follow THEIR rules. The best thing to do is to pratice the club's required techniques for a black belt and request to take the black belt test. Another alternation is forget about the grades and train in the new dojo. I mean, karate is not about grades.
  22. Yeah, I concur. Sometimes point sparring is helpful, since its main idea is to threaten and (kind of) scareyour opponent .
  23. I really think you should go to some other dojos and observe. The best thing to do though, is just go back to training.
  24. What point are you trying to make? sparring is used in karate, but it doesn't tell you to use in on the street. Once you have the skills, you can use it on the street, you don't have to follow the rules of sparring.....
  25. First of all, try to forget everything before you meditate. When you sit down and start to meditate, control your breathing. After that, leave your mind blank, absolutely blank. *If you reach this stage, then you are really good*
