Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. You could try whenever the dad try's to correct something thats wrong, and he's wrong...SHOW him why its wrong, and the right way to do it. That way the father AND the child will learn the right things together.
  2. That depends on everything. If the Kung Fu guy is better he will win. If the other guy is better, then he will win.
  3. To quote the page: "We practice certain concepts and in these drills we are working on basics: Structure. Sensitivity. Reaction time. Root, not moving backward. We feel you need to have these concepts before you can move on to more advanced concepts. NOTE! These are only some training concepts, only basics, they are not the real thing. There are many other concepts we will share as we put up more videos of how we train." They are only the basics. Im sure these guys at a higher level do other types of sparing.
  4. You could try some health Tai Chi untill you feel up to it and then get into the fighting aspects of it.
  5. Ten pounts per lesson seems wayyy to expensive to me. I pay $50 australian a month, and i have anywhere up to 4 lessons a week. If you work that out its not much for what im learning.
  6. Ermac or Mileena... Those Sai's go off!
  7. do you mean like a TKD backstance? If so, im not a big fan of them. They may work for some people, but for me, im more of a 50/50 weight distribution and a very rooted stance.
  8. Read my sig.
  9. Im not sure of the name, perhaps someone who does Tai Chi could shed some light on it.
  10. Thats a really advanced thing that they do. Basically theyre not trying to bruise the oponent, or do surface damage. But rather, when they hit them, damage the internal organs, put all of their energey deep into them. I dont know how its done but thats the idea.
  11. Most definately. Thats what martial arts is all about. This is a little bit of a poem that i think sums it up perfectly. "If you meet a Student and you know he is an evil person; then you would not teach him even for 10,000 pieces of Gold. And if he is not Righteous and has no Honour, You would not teach him even if he were your Relative. But if he is Righteous and has Honour, You should teach him even if he is a Stranger to you and has no Money." So yeah, i think you should let him train for free. Maybe he can help you out in some way to repay his training, or just let him pay later on, or just give whatever he can.
  12. Yeah, custom made mouthguards are the way to go. I had one when i was little for playing footy with braces. I'd tried the ones you buy that you can mould yourself and stuff, but they sucked. Then i got one custom fitted and made and it was very comfortable and i could breathe very easily. If you can afford it, its the best option IMO
  13. Just to clarify, i can see that were thinking different things. I was talking about leaning forwad from the hip (which is what i though you were referring to) not just hunching forward a little. Leaning forward from the hip causes disjointment and is horrible for your balance. So yeah, i can see where your coming from, and i agree with you
  14. Do lots of breathing exercises, thinking about the test, passing it...visualise your goals while doing your breathing exercises. And go through all your curriculum(sp) for your test. Make sure you know everything flawlessly. You have to know that your going to pass your test. Otherwise, if your not sure, you wont, or may just scrape through, which isnt really passing. Good luck with your test
  15. If you use what you've learnt properly (meaning effectively), and have a stronger will you will beat him. That is to say that if he uses what he's learnt properly (meaning effectively) and has a stronger will he will beat you.
