White Belt (1/10)

  1. When its around the time for your devision to start, find a way to WARM UP before your match. Unless your a person that is naturaly energetic, your INITIAL start may suffer without this. Jump in place, rotate your arms, light spar with a friend(if your group is not lined up for competition yet), or other. Be careful not to tire your self out though. If you don't train hard in advance of the tournament, then it's not likely any tricks or stratagies are going to help much at the last minute.
  2. It seems that the instructions you guys give are for "No hand" flips. What about flips using hands to touch down.
  3. You guys hit the nail on the head with this being a problem. It been a major problem for me working with lazy people. It actualy makes me not want to do anything also. I tried all your suggestion on my own before but they never work for the long term. That lazy person or personS don't change there ways so easy. I could write a book on this but I got to get to cleaning my house. I think it really maters on the enthusiasm and motivation skills of the instructors. They must be able to recognize those lazy persons and help them to shape up or ship out.
  4. I have a hard time believing that so many of you can truly do 150-250 pushups CORRECTLY. But maybe I'm wrong. It probably depends on you weight too. My max would be around 50 if I gave it my best and did them correctly. I agree that strength is not of major importance in MA but it is a factor none the less. I think that you need to take it into account when comparing evenly skilled fighters or as a factor in measuring endurance.
  5. I am a San Dan(3rd black). I just wanted to reply to a post for the first time.
