Laziness and martial arts dont mix very well. (just to show them) when your sparring, and they're feeling lazy, beat the snot out of them, im sure they'l change their attitudes, if its the warm ups theyre felling lazy with, advise them, without stretching and warming up, they could seriously injure themselves, or you. and i wouldnt want to be injured, just because my partner was being lazy and pestimistic.

i dont really think its "whats better" they are the same, if you have macho headgear and someone hits you in the head, you arent going to get brain damage, if you have century headear you arent going to get brain damage, its all bout the fit and the shape of your head, so you cant really ask people about what fits them better, it wont work for you, and i wouldnt advise you buying off of the internet, you should go to a store and try some on, get a tight fit, but not too tight, if someone that had sparring gear, and wouldnt mind going with you, let them help you pick some out. You get what you pay for.

there is actually 2 people using this on my user name... my little sister too, shes just starting out, im already into my 3rd year, doing shotokan, she likes to ask alot of questions, from now on, ill specify whos asking from now on, haha this is me now. and i asked about the bo staff, they teach you alot of hits and blocks and things, but they never teach you to spin it, and when i try, i whack myself in the face with it. haha i was just wondering if anyone had any tips, on, not, whacking yourself in the face lol... i play the drums so i can spin it around my fingers really fast, but with the longer bo staff, i just end up hitting myself. -
does anyone know how to spin a bo staff??? like fast and without hitting yourself in the face? lol.... if you do, could you please give me a good explination lol.

i think its really cool, and a valuable thing to learn, if you ever need it, you might not, but its fun! -
they are katas. anan and anaku are both different.
-
hm, did you try googling it??? where did you hear the word??Ananku The exact origin of Ananku is unknown, but it is believed that Chotoku Kyan (1870-1945) brought back this form to the Tomari region from Taiwan in the year 1895. Ananku means peace or safety from the south. The kata was developed as part of the Tomari-Te system and during the 1900's, was further passed on by Shoshin Nagamine (born 1907) and the Matsubayashi Ryu style. The kata emphasizes both offensive and defensive moves from a deap forward leaning stance (front leg bent). Strong punches and double-punches occur throughout the form. thats all i could find, hope it helps!!!!

chain whip or nunchaku
15-lisa-newbie replied to Son Goku the monkeyking's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
Im actually going to say the nunchuks, better offence, partly because it is harder and faster, so if you get a good hit at the opponent your good to go, but martial arts isnt about hurting someone, its about fighting someone. So, i would say the nunchuks, only for offense. but really if you are defending yourself use the chain whip, it is longer, and lessens the impact, say if you were to be holding the nunchuks and someone hit them fast with a bo staff or "nunchuks" it would give you that tingling sensation (like if you were to hit a baseball with a wooden bat) and your hands would go asleep, which would definately lose your concentration. So it depends if you are an offensive fighter, or a defensive fighter. I know you are going to use them for defense, but if you are going to hit them.. dont hit them with the chain whip. it sucks when you get hit with one. Sorry that wasnt a very good explination. If you want the best answer? go ask your Master, he/she should know what to do. but i hope that helped. -
how do you pronounce shotokan???
-
That is a weapon, just a little modified... called the chain whip,(whip chain) or rope dart. it is not very common in dojos because they are dangerous and usually made of metal. They are only used for demonstrations cause theyre made of metal with a peice of fabric on the end, and could whip your own or someone elses eye out. If you are thinking of using this weapon... practice with a rope or heavy string with something generally heavier tied to the end and you can get a learning video on it, like.. John Su Chain Whip Series.. hes good, and this is an easy video to learn from, i guarantee you that all of the moves you will learn were in Elektra. Heres a link that will take you to a site that you can get the videos from... Dont whip your eye out bud.
