Start with your age, how many years (months?) of training in what arts and what belt you currently are. That will help us a lot in helping you make this major decision about starting your own style. Having an enthusiastic MA family, diversing in many styles I 'started' no, It just kind of got murged into my life from very early on. About 19yrs Approx Karate Do: I got to purple, (White, red, yellow, orange, green, blue, Purple.) And I would like to add that then My 'McDojo' closed on me and I was Martially artisticly homeless. And also I train regularly (Every other day) with and also without Tonfa. Tai Chi (Yang form): I have mastered the full Yang form of Tai Chi and I practise it every day, yes Every Day. Ninjitsu: I have a limited knowledge of this art and I have mainly studied the internal side of this art. I hope this information helps. I would also like to take the time to say that when I was 'pondering' the thought of a new style I was thinking more of 'Shimazu Karate' than 'Shimazu Kara-jitsu'.

Tofa indeed. Tonfa are a usefull weapon, they enable weak users immediate strength and they increase the strength of the strong by at least a theoretical x2 multiplier.

That is true to a certain extent but I find that if you get knocked down or lose however that happens, If you just keep getting up and refuse to lose they will get tired before you, it always works for me even if they are a better MA than you, they think you are determined beyond defeat. How do you define a loss?

What do any of you think about, ok not creating your own style but customising an existing one, look at this: Mugen teshin Ninjitsu Mishima style Karate These are family names, incorporating the skills and weaknesses of the specific family.

Might sound mean but; Intimidate them, say something quiet but forcefull in Japanese and look them in the eye with an intimidating stare. It works in my Dojo, well until it closed (Not because of me!)

But it is really really hard, there is a boss every five minutes, they start off small and then, where I am, I just killed a 20ft Dinosaur skelenton, a 12ft squid, blob thing and now I am fighting a woman called Alma, All in 14 minutes!! Ryu is EXACTLY like he is in DOA ultimate 2.

Hold my last thought. Nice combinations, sounds like a DOA combo! I only say this because you were defending your girlfriend, it happens to us all, anyone explain that? (People attacking couples I mean, not the killer combos, they only come to those who practise.)
